I had fun writing this, it's shameless schmoop but I enjoyed it.

Hmmmm, Mikey's superpowers. I think he finds out he can talk to all animals and not just his cat. He's actually kinda surprised when it's pointed out most people can't actually have a conversation with their pets. So he spends a lot of time chatting to the horses and Bob's bear. Just silently looking at them as they chatter back.
