I saw Gladiator 2 on Saturday, and enjoyed it. Some bits were a bit gory/violent for my taste, but I expected that going in, and it's very much a film that's meant to be seen on a big screen with pounding music. So yeah, the bits I saw with my eyes open I liked a lot.

Then yesterday, we went for a walk at Durham. James' bus pass came the other day, this one with the added element meaning a companion can travel with him free, too. So, we decided to go for a ride and walk. There was a mini market in the main square, and the big Christmas tree was up, but still undecorated. Still, it was a lovely sunny, if chilly day, and I enjoyed our walk through town.

Strictly was at Blackpool on Saturday, something they always make a big deal about, and I enjoyed the show. Maybe not as much as last year when Layton and Nikita danced their epic pole dancing couple's choice, but still, I smiled a lot. I mean, who wouldn't seeing one of the contestants be lowered down on a giant glittery ketchup bottle and then dance with ketchup and mustard bottles?

The John Lewis Christmas advert dropped, and I can't say it's my favourite of theirs. Related to that video, and in some clever marketing, each year someone releases an advert in the usual John Lewis style, but does so early before the actual advert. They then label it John Lewis Inspired Christmas Advert 2024 and of course, many people skim read and think it's official, and the thing is shared everywhere. I have to be impressed by what they do, as it has to raise lots of money for the charity. You can see that video here, just be warned it's designed to tug at the heart if you've lost a loved one.

Today, James was at the hospital for another follow-up appointment. 90 minutes wait for an x-ray, and then an appointment of about five minutes with the consultant. But she's very happy with his progress, the breaks are mending with lots of calluses forming, though the elbow is still displaced, and will probably remain so now. She released the brace completely, and has said by the time she sees him again in six weeks she wants him to wean himself off wearing it at all, starting with leaving it off at home. She's also signed him off work until January, mainly due to the long commute and needing to build up his strength in his arm again. But, he has been cleared to drive, which is great, and has already had a short drive around, just because he could.

It did mean I had to miss weight management class for the first time since I started. Which felt really weird, but I know Rosie would understand.

James has got a physio appointment at the hospital at 10 tomorrow, and we'll probably drive there, though did consider using the bus as there's a severe weather warning for snow and ice tonight. But, thinking about it, there's more chance the main roads will be ice free than the pavements to and from the bus stops. At least, that's my reasoning now, that may change when I look out the window tomorrow.
