The Illuminations were nice the other day, but just as we got there it started to rain really heavily, so we only stayed for around 30 mins as no one was having fun when we were all soaked and cold. We did have a bit of a dance at the silent disco, all of us wearing lit up headphones, and had some photos taken next to the lights. But, the rain just spoilt everything, even though it was nice to get out and spend some time with Kayleigh, Lucy, and Bodhi.

Weight management class again yesterday, and we talked about sleep and how it can affect health. It was quite an interesting topic, filled with tips about good sleep hygiene, including the usual, no screens before bed, and taking magnesium supplements could help, which I already do. So, I could tick that off a virtual to-try list.

We slipped away before the exercise part -- including my new faves, battle ropes -- and that felt weird, like I was bunking class somehow. But did a swift walk back home instead, so that had to do for my Monday workout.

Then, as expected, patient transport didn't arrive until just after 1, so we could have stayed for the whole class and still got home in time. The transport there was a very lovely taxi car, and coming back, a taxi mini bus, and everything went smoothly. It is a wait to come back after the appointment as the nurses have to call up Patient Transport, and they'll assign some transport when it's available, but as Patient Transport arranging is James' actual job, we already knew we'd be waiting a while. But it wasn't that bad as we had to wait somewhere with a TV plus got chatting to a lovely man.

He had such a story to tell. He'd been walking at the beach and realised the tide was coming in, and seeing the rocks were slippy, decided to climb the cliff a bit, and fell, breaking his wrist and ankle. He had his dog with him, and was in a deserted area, and realising he was in trouble, actually crawled nearly a mile to get back to the cliff top path. Then had to crawl even further to a place the ambulance could reach. The guy was amazing, and had such a good attitude considering he was a taxi driver, meaning he's going to be unable to work for months.

Anyway, James' appointment,

He was seeing a consultant who has a special interest in Arthrogryphosis, and it was such a change to talk to someone who was knowledgeable about the condition. She's a kids doctor really, but said she's happy to use her knowledge to help adults, and what she'll be is the facilitator to any treatment James needs from now on. So, while she couldn't treat herself, she'd arrange the people who could.

The plan now is to get his arm and elbow healed -- she described the break as an upside down Y, with the bottom break being the elbow, and the top branches, the broken attached bones. She agreed it was a nasty break, but that the brace was the right decision and an operation wouldn't have achieved anything. In around three weeks James has to go in for more x-rays and depending on the results, they may take the lock off the brace, or even, allow him to take it off for a bit, and then follow that with weeks of physio. But for now, it's rest, rest and more rest.

Then, once his arm is much better, she's going to have a look at his foot and the splint situation. But, I suspect that won't be happening for a while yet. Even so, just from that one meeting yesterday, she's going to be someone great to have in our corner.

Today we've been out with Kayleigh and Bodhi and got some shopping at Company. As always, it depends on what surplus stuff they have delivered, and it wasn't the best shopping trip there we've ever had, but we're stocked up on yoghurts again, and I got more kefir. Plus, it was nice to see some of the people we know who work there, and James got to tell his falling down the stairs story multiple times.
