The weather today is ridiculous, constant heavy rain since last night and forecast for a while yet. It's hard to believe that just last week I was sitting enjoying a latte in the sunshine at the beach. However, I've got a new 9-1-1 Lonestar downloaded and ready to watch and have also downloaded the first two Rescue Hi Surf to see what that's like.

It was back to weight management class on Monday after a fortnight's break

The class theme was behaviour changes. Not the most interesting topic we've had, but I still took something from it. We talked about the stages of behaviour changes in terms of wanting to become more healthy, starting from the people who didn't see any need to change -- because they don't need or want to, up to maintenance from when those changes have been applied and have stuck a while.

There was a lot of nodding along as we talked, especially for the stage focussed on sliding back/regression, when people had made good changes, but had lost focus somehow, sliding back into poor habits, before having to move forward again.

It's hard to describe well, but what did stick with me was the graphic based on a snakes and ladders board. Rosie stressed that trying to become healthier should be seen like that. A person could have setbacks -- slide down a snake -- or make excellent changes and speed through the board, hitting ladders on the way. But, hitting a snake doesn't take you back to the beginning. Yes, you could go backwards a bit, but you'd still be away from the start.

And that hit home for me. Yes, I slid back -- admittedly, quite a lot, but I was still nowhere close to my highest weight and when I was the most unhealthy.

Hopefully, that makes sense. I tend to talk about these classes after to help stick things in my head, and the snakes and ladders thing really has stuck. I do wish we hadn't missed the last two classes, which were carbs and immunity, as both sound interesting.

Then it was onto the exercise part, and while I was wondering if I'd cope after a fortnight break, all was well. Only six people turned up for the class, two of which didn't do the active part, so those that did had a lot of focus from Rosie.

The stations were chair burpees, which I'm still not good at, resistant band rows and curls, squats with the 5kg grab bag, dumbbell punches, and my new nemesis, the three level step up. When we started, Rosie used a one level step, a few weeks later, gave the option of a one or two level step. On Monday it was three, and man, that looked high. I've said before but anything lower body is hard for me, and stepping my body weight up wasn't easy.

I told Rosie that the step was my new nemesis and she laughed at me and said, but you still did it, so I'll make sure to include it again next week. And really, self, don't say things like that, next time say I find the 2kg dumbbells the hardest.

Kevin has been congested again, so he's been back to see the vet on Tuesday. She'd initially said that he would need swabs next time the infection was back, but after seeing him, and realising it's been a while since the last time he needed antibiotics, was happy to give more without doing the swabs. Apart from the congestion, Kevin's perfectly healthy and roamed around the consult room like he owned it, jumping on all the counters, the windowsills, the chair, and computer table. The only time he wasn't happy was getting a nail trim, when one of the vet techs had to come hold him in a blanket.

After dropping Kevin off home, I went to see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and it was okay. That's all I can say about it, really.

Last night, it was our second visit to The Firestation to see A Night At The Movies: A Soundtrack to Your Life. Now, I love a good upbeat song and concert, so I enjoyed it. Also, the Firestation yet again excelled itself in terms of access as we had what felt like our own private box right next to the stage. We were on the second level, to the right of the stairs down to the main stalls level, so only two seats are ever there, and they take one out if a wheelchair space is needed, like it was last night.

We were stage level, also at the eye level of the performers, and could see everything perfectly. The show itself was great, a selection of well known songs from the movies performed by four singers, they were all good, but one of the guys was the cheesiest cheeseball who ever cheesed, and I loved him for that. I ended up chair dancing to so many songs and enjoyed watching the group of ladies who were dancing in the aisle down and in front of us. I'm really glad I made the effort to go on a cold September night.

Today was an unexpected Bodhisitting morning. We did have a booking for Moo Bears, but she isn't well, and instead I had to take her to see the doctor, and he put her on antibiotics for a chest infection. But her mams were back by midday, so she's having a snuggle day with them now. While I'm having some time at home before going out in a couple of hours as it's Pauline's birthday, and we're meeting up with her and my brother and his kids at a restaurant later.
