Love them, love them, love them. Fifth row, Stage Sean/Bob/speaker.
New songs, old songs, got to hear "Ferryland Sealer" live. Never thought I would. AND "Chemical Worker" live a second time. I do wish they had played "Mari-Mac" or "The Mermaid". Wasn't in a position to snag a set list at the end. =( The moment the guys were off the stage, a woman in the front row snapped Sean's up.
Alan was actually reduced to biting his tongue not once, but twice. The first was something about Ohioans calling themselves Buckeyes... ensuing from Alan/Sean wondering what people in Columbus call themselves (Columbusites or Buckeyes will work... I prefer the former). Sean was having issues with his pants and it's pseudo-pockets. At first he didn't think they had pockets ("recession-proof") and he thought they were ladies' pants, then found them. Alan remarked he looked very Johnny Cash-ish.
And they allowed cameras this year. Dammit. The ticket said no photography, so I left mine home. *sigh*
Up until the last possible moment, I thought I as gonna have the row to myself, but then they showed up. With their beer. At first I thought "Oh no", but they were fine and didn't get rowdy. Despite the 5-6 my seat neighbor had. He was looking a little unsteady by the end of the show (hope he got home okay). They were all young too, but kinda just sat there the first set. Not me, I stood up so I could see! They finally got into it 2nd set. Enough in their cups I guess.
But I did score the Columbus Blue Jacket's Dir. of Marketing business card. He must have thought they were bothering or inconveniencing me somehow and said if I ever wanted tickets to a game to email him. Asked if I was a hockey fan... how I heard about GBS and if they were Canadian... if I wanted a sip of his beer...
And oddly, the people behind me, were in front of me last year. LOL Well, for the first set anyway until I snuck down to sit with
gaelbrady and
ladystarblade.
I can think of no negatives to the night save for the theater was actually chilly, $30 t-shirts, and it's more fun when you don't go solo. lol
