“So... you and Jack, huh?” Rian asked, sitting down in the chair and smiling at me.

“Yeah,” I said, grinning to myself as I looked out at the sun setting over the ocean. “It was pretty out of the blue.”

“I’m happy for you,” Rian told me. “I told you he’d come around eventually.”

“I definitely wasn’t so sure, but I’m really happy he did,” I answered.

“Alex!” I heard a voice call out, sitting up and glancing out on the beach. I could see a figure walking up to my porch, raising an eyebrow when I realized it was Roni.

“Roni!” I yelled back, watching her walk up my steps. “Why are you naked?”

“I locked myself out,” she responded, gripping her towel tighter to her body as she glanced over at Rian.

“Why were you outside naked in the first place?” I questioned, cocking an eyebrow and watching her pout.

“Does it matter?” she snapped and I raised both my eyebrows, laughing.

“Don’t get bitchy if you want me to help you, sweetness,” I told her and she huffed.

“I was tanning and I fell asleep,” she answered and I laughed even harder.

“You fell asleep tanning naked? You know, you probably shouldn’t do that. There are some creeps that wander around these parts,” I told her.

“Will you shut up and go get the spare key!” she exclaimed and I shook my head.

“Nah,” I answered, putting my sunglasses on and sipping my drink.

“Alex!” she screeched and I raised an eyebrow, looking up at her curiously. She glared, crossing her arms and looking at me expectantly.

“What?” I asked, and she sighed dramatically. “Oh, where are my manners. Rian, this is my best friend Roni. Roni, this is Rian.”

“Hi,” Rian said, giving her a half smile before looking over at me with a curious expression.

“Hello,” she answered. “I’m sorry, I don’t usually walk around naked.”

“If you didn’t make it a habit of walking around naked, you wouldn’t find it necessary to keep a spare key at my house, you liar,” I told her and she glared.

“Shut the fuck up,” she responded. “I don’t want to hear another word out of you until you bring me said key.”

I raised an eyebrow and she groaned.

“Fine. Be a dick. I’m going to just go steal some of your clothes then,” she said, walking over to go into my bedroom. Jack was coming out just as she was going in, and he raised an eyebrow when he noticed her lack of apparel. “Hey, Jack.”

“Hey,” he said, watching her walk inside before coming over to sit next to me. “Why is she naked?”

“She got attacked by a shark,” I answered and he made a face at me.

“What?” he asked and I grinned.

“Nothing,” I answered, shaking my head and tilting my head up while puckering my lips. He kissed my gently as he sat down between my knees, resting back against my chest. I ran my fingers through his messy hair, seeing a weird look on his face as he looked out over the ocean. “What’s wrong, babe?”

“Nothing,” he answered, looking up at me and giving me a smile. I looked at him skeptically for a second before leaning forward and kissing his nose.

We sat in silence for a few moments, watching the waves roll in and out. The silence was broken by a loud scream, and I glanced over at my room curiously. Vinny walked out of the door a minute later, scratching the back of his neck.

“Who’s the babe changing in your room?” he asked and I laughed.

“That babe’s name is Roni,” I told him and Vinny nodded. “She’s my neighbor.”

“Your neighbor’s usually come over and stand naked in your bedroom? Fuck, gay girls really do steal all the girls,” he said, shaking his head and sitting down next to Rian.

“She got locked out of her house, so she’s just borrowing some clothes until I find the spare key for her,” I explained.

“Well she’s hot. I wouldn’t mind walking her back over to her house after you find her key,” he said, winking and I rolled my eyes.

“Whatever, bro,” I told him, looking down and seeing the same scowl covering Jack’s face. “Are you sure there isn’t something bothering you?”

“I’m fine,” he answered and I sighed.

“Okay,” I answered, letting my hands slide down to rest on his shoulders. “Hey, Vin, where’s Matt?”

“Taking a nap,” he answered. “Apparently staying up all night is too much for Gramps.”

I chuckled, running my fingers through Jack’s dark hair.

I heard the door open and shut, seeing Roni walking out in a pair of my short and a t-shirt.

“Hey, I found the key, so I’m gonna go unlock my house now. I’ll bring these back over to you later,” she said and I nodded, watching her walk away.

“Yeah, she’s smokin’,” Vinny said once she was out of earshot and I snorted.

“Not really my type,” I answered, smirking when I heard Vinny laugh.

“Yeah, I know,” he answered. “You’re more into the tall, dark, and handsome type.”

“With a penis,” Rian added, and I laughed.

“Pretty much,” I answered, squeezing my boyfriend with my thighs. “Sounds like my ideal lover.”

I heard Jack chuckle, leaning further into me.

“I’m glad you’ve taken a liking to Roni. It’ll make working with her more interesting for you,” I told Vinny, sending him a wink.

“What do you mean, ‘working with her’?” Jack asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

“I asked her to come along on tour with us. Give Vinny a hand with the merch,” I said, seeing Vinny nod.

“That’d be cool, actually. The job will be a little less stressful for me, then,” Vinny said, agreeing.

“Shouldn’t you have asked the rest of the band and crew before just deciding to invite someone out on the road with us?” Jack asked, and I frowned at the edge in his voice.

“I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal,” I answered and he rolled his eyes.

“‘Course not,” he answered, getting up and walking into the house.

“What was that?” Rian asked me quietly and I shrugged.

“I don’t know,” I answered, sighing.

I stood up, opening my door and then sliding it shut. Jack was walking out of the bathroom as I stepped into my bedroom, not missing the glare he sent at me.

“What is wrong?” I asked and he rolled his eyes. “Why are you acting like this? Just because I didn’t ask you if Roni couldn’t come on tour with us?”

“It would have been nice, y’know?” he questioned, rolling his eyes and picking up his phone.

“I don’t see the big deal,” I told him, frowning at his attitude. “She doesn’t have anywhere to go. I’m the only friend she has out here, and she’s not a local. She can’t just go back home either, it doesn’t work like that. I thought it would be nice to have her come with us so she wasn’t left her all alone. She’s had it rough.”

“Right,” he answered and I furrowed my eyebrows.

“What the fuck, Jack? I thought you guys hit it off? I don’t get why you’re getting so pissed off right now,” I told him, and he turned to me, looking at me anxiously.

“Did you fuck her?” he questioned, and I cocked an eyebrow.

“What?” I questioned.

“Did you have sex with Roni?” he asked and I scoffed.

“Are you forgetting that I’m gay?” I asked, laughing and watching him glare.

“Answer the question,” he said and I rolled my eyes.

“Of fucking course not,” I told him. “Why are you acting so jealous? You know I’m in love with you.”

He didn’t say anything and I glared.

“Seriously? Why are you fucking being like this?”

“You’re just so close to her. She’s over here all the time. You have a spare key to her house. You’re bringing her on tour with us. Excuse me for not liking it,” he said and I furrowed my eyebrows.

“She’s my fucking best friend, Jack!” I exclaimed, watching him glare.

“No! I’m supposed to be your fucking best friend!” he said and I glared back.

“No! You’re supposed to be my fucking boyfriend!” I told him, stepping closer to him. “Or did you forget? Or is this just some plan to get me back into your life?”

“Alex, that’s not-”

“All I fucking asked was for you to not play games with me! That’s not a fucking lot, Jack!” I said, voice raising a little. “I let down my fucking guard when you walked through that door! I did it because I love you and I fucking want to give you a chance, but I also don’t want it to fucking blow up in my face! If you aren’t serious about this, then don’t stand there and pretend you love me back! I’m not some toy for your amusement, Jack! I’m a person!”

“Will you just calm down?!” he said, sighing.

“No. I’m serious when I say I love you. I want to know that you’re serious when you say it too,” I told him. “I don’t want to be a fucking joke to you.”

“You aren’t a joke to me,” he said. “I do love you! And I mean it. I just don’t want to lose you again! I was too much of a fucking mess when you left me, and I guess I’m just jealous that while I was miserable at home without you, she got to spend endless amounts of time with you.”

“Whose fault was that?” I questioned, glaring as I crossed my arms.

“I’m sorry, Alex. I already lost you once being an idiot, I don’t want it to happen again,” he said, frowning and I rolled my eyes.

“Well you aren’t doing a very good job at it,” I told him, shaking my head as I moved back towards the door.

“Where are you going?” he asked and I turned sharply, glaring at him.

“I’m going to spend time with my friends. Is that okay?” I snapped before opening the door and walking outside.
