“Alex,” I heard a voice mumble and I grunted, shoving my face deeper into Jack’s chest. I heard a tapping noise, and Jack pushed against my chest gently. “There’s someone knocking on your door.”

I lifted my head up to see Roni standing out on my patio. I rolled my eyes, yawning as I untangled myself from Jack, who was obviously falling back to sleep. I got out of the bed, searching the floor for my boxers or my shorts. I found my shorts first, slipping them over my legs and walking to the door as Roni started knocking on it again.

I put my finger to my lips as I opened the door, stepping out into the warm sun and glaring at her.

“Hello to you too, sunshine,” she said sarcastically and I glared some more.

“You woke me up,” I said, wiping the sleep from my eyes as I walked over to the side of the porch.

“Well what the fuck are you doing still sleeping at three in the afternoon?” she asked, raising a perfectly waxed eyebrow.

“I had a long night,” I answered.

“No you didn’t. You went to bed at like two,” she answered.

“Fine. I had a long morning,” I responded and she snorted.

“Right,” she answered.

“I did,” I responded, turning to face her. She looked at me for a moment before her eyes widened.

“Alex! What the fuck is your neck?!” she demanded and I gave her a smug smirk. “Is that a hickey?! What the fuck? Where’d you get a hickey?!”

She ran her finger over the purpling skin, pressing on it. I squirmed away from her touch, slapping her hand away.

“Stop poking it,” I said and she furrowed her eyebrows.

“Are you gonna tell me where the hell you got a hickey from? ‘Cause I know for a damn fact you didn’t do that to yourself,” she said, glaring at me expectantly.

I stayed quiet, staring back at her and hearing her let out a huff.

“Alexander William! I swear to God! If you don’t tell me right now, I’m gonna chop your legs off and feed you to the fucking sharks!” she said, voice growing louder and hands waving as she talked. I put my hand over her mouth.

“Why are you so loud? Jesus,” I mumbled, glancing back into my room to check that she hadn’t woken up Jack.

“Because I am!” she exclaimed, turning around to see where I was looking. “Wait! Is he still in there?”

I grabbed her before she had a chance to dart to the door, carrying her kicking frame over to one of the chairs and sitting her down.

“Come on!” she pouted. “I just want to see him! It’s not fair that you keep the man candy all to yourself!”

I rolled my eyes, sitting down in the chair next to hers.

“It’s Jack,” I told her, and her eyes widened.

“Jack? Like, the man you’ve been in love with for years?” she questioned and I nodded.

“Yeah,” I answered. “He showed up at my door at like nine this morning.”

“Talk about a plot twist!” Roni exclaimed. “How did he find you?”

“I don’t know. I don’t even know how he got here. We didn’t do much talking,” I said and Roni eyes widened.

“Did you guys have sex?” she asked and I nodded.

“My ass hurts like fuck,” I said and she laughed.

“It must have been good then,” she said and I nodded.

“Best I’ve ever had.”

“So where do you stand now?” she asked and I frowned.

“I don’t even know,” I mumbled. ”Everything happened so fast. We haven’t talked anything out yet.”

“When he wakes up you can talk it over,” Roni said and I nodded.

“He made me stay and cuddle with him,” I told her. “I freaked out and tried to leave when we were done, but he made me stay with him.”

“Awh,” Roni said, smiling. “He wants to be with you, Alex. Give him a chance.”

“I wanna see what he has to say first,” I said and she nodded.

We sat in silence for a while, watching the water. I heard the door slide open a short time after, glancing over to see Jack stepping out of the house.

“Hey,” he said, voice raspy with sleep as he came up to me. His jeans were riding low on his hips and his hair was sticking up in every direction.

“Hey,” I answered, watching him glance down at Roni. He looked at her curiously before I cleared my throat, causing him to turn his attention back to me. “Jack, this is my neighbor, Roni. Roni, this is Jack.”

“Nice to meet you,” Jack said, giving her a friendly wave.

“Nice to meet you too, finally,” she added, glancing over at me. I gave her a glare before I looked up at Jack.

“You can come sit with me,” I told Jack and he nodded. He came closer to me, sitting down by my legs as I drew them up. I winced slightly at the feeling in my hips, biting my lip.

“You good?” Jack asked me and I nodded. He grabbed a hold of my legs, stretching them out again over his lap and rubbing my knee.

“Sore,” I answered, ignoring the knowing smirk on Roni’s face.

“Oh,” Jack answered, biting his lip slightly as he looked out at the view off of the deck. “You sure have a nice backyard.”

“I know,” I said, smiling. I settled my hand down, running my fingers over the material of his jeans. It felt better than I imagined to be close to him again.

“Well, I just came over to make sure Alex was still breathing,” Roni said, standing up and adjusting her shirt. “I’ll talk to you later, Alex.”

“Alright. See you later,” I told her and she nodded. She gave me a look before waving at Jack.

“Bye,” he answered, waving back.

I watched her walk down the steps of the deck before looking over at Jack.

“So this is where you’ve been hiding?” he asked, looking over at me and I bit my lip.

“How did you get here?” I asked.

“I tricked Matt into unlocking his phone for me when he was really drunk last night. And then I stole the car Colussy rented and drove here at three in the morning,” he told me and I bit my lip.

“Why did you do that? You know Flyzik is going to kill you,” I told him and he shook his head.

“Because I couldn’t stand being away from you for another day,” Jack said and I raised an eyebrow.

“Be real, Jack,” I told him.

“I am, Alex,” he answered and I sighed. “I’m serious. I made a huge mistake by letting you go. I love you so much, Alex, and I’m sorry it took me so long to figure it out. I’ve been stupid. So, so stupid.”

“After everything that’s happened, do you blame me for not believing you?” I asked him and he frowned.

“I deserve that,” he answered, “but I mean it. I love you.”

“It’s not that easy, Jack,” I told him, shaking my head. “You made me miserable! Do you know how many nights I cried over you? All the time I spent asking myself why I wasn’t good enough? I’ve been in love with you for nine years. You put me through hell! Why should it be so easy for you to just wake up one day and decide you’re in love with me? How can you expect me to just fall into your arms and we’ll live happily ever after?”

“I don’t,” Jack told me. “I know this is hard. I know the last few months haven’t been paradise. I put myself through hell too, Alex. But I also know that I need you. And I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it all up to you. I’ll fight for you, Alex. I’ll do whatever it takes to make you mine. I’ll do anything to show you what you mean to me. I don’t want you to hurt anymore, Lex, and I don’t wanna hurt either. I just want you. I want us. Please just give me a chance to show you how much you mean to me. I love you so much, Gaskarth. I love you so much it hurts. Just... please say yes.”

“I don’t know if this makes me an idiot,” I started, reaching my hand forward and grabbing his own in mine, “but I’ve waited so long to hear you say that.”

I saw Jack smile, squeezing my hand a little tighter.

“So is that a yes?” he asked and I chuckled.

“Shut up and kiss me,” I told him, pulling him forward.

He cupped my face in his hands gently, gingerly pressing our lips together. I pressed harder, feeling the electricity spark through me.

“Don’t make me regret this,” I told him softly, hearing him laugh.

“I wouldn’t dream of it,” he answered, swiping his thumb over my cheek. “Can we go out on the beach?”

“We need to change first,” I told him and he nodded, standing up and helping me up.

“We were supposed to have gone out to the beach like, an hour and a half ago,” I told Jack, chuckling as he kissed my neck.

“Oh well. This is funner,” he told me, and I rolled my eyes.

“Funner isn’t a word,” I told him, cringing as he bit me. “Ouch! Hey!”

He laughed before kissing my lips. He ran his hand over my bare chest, our legs tangled together as we laid in my bed.

“If you’re gonna be a dick, I’m gonna go swimming,” he told me, untangling himself from me and standing up.

“I don’t care Go swimming,” I said, laughing.

“But oh, I forgot my swim trunks. Guess I’m gonna have to go in naked!” he said shrugging and I rolled my eyes.

“I’m pretty sure that’s illegal. You can borrow a pair of mine though,” I told him, standing up and grabbing two pairs of trunks from my dresser. I turned around, handing him a pair and watching him pull them on. He grabbed a hold of me before I could pull my own on, resting his hands on my hips and smiling at me.

“We’re definitely going skinny dipping later though, right?” he asked and I rolled my eyes.

“Of course,” I answered, grinning as he leaned forward to kiss me. He pulled away quickly, sliding the door open and jumping off the deck. I quickly slipped my trunks on, shutting the door behind me as I ran after him.

♠ ♠ ♠I didn't feel like making them fight.
