I opened my eyes slowly, glancing around my room. I didn't know what time it was, but it had to have been early due to the bright sunlight pouring through the open curtains. I groaned, shoving my face into Jack's neck and squeezing my eyes shut. I felt him move slightly, grunting in his sleep. I felt him nuzzle his nose into my hair, kissing the top of my head. I smiled, moving away from him and kissing his lips gently. He smiled, eyes still shut. I grinned, leaning in and kissing him again.

His eyes fluttered open, smile almost automatically disappearing from his face as he stared at me in confusion.

"What's wrong?" I asked and he sat up, shaking his head.

"A-Alex?" he asked and my eyes widened. "W-what are you doing here?"

I sat up, looking down at my hands. They were larger than they had been before, and I gasped. I looked down, touching the tattoo on my forearm. I was back.

I got out of bed, rushing over to the mirror. I felt my heart pound as I looked at the man in the mirror staring back at me. It was Alex; it was me.

"Alex," Jack repeated, and I felt my stomach drop. Fuck, how was I going to explain this to him? "W-what is going on? When did you get back? Where's Aly? Why the fuck are you naked?!"

"I-I-" I stuttered, unsure how to answer any of his questions. "Jack..."

"I'm so confused," Jack said, shaking his head. "I mean, jesus, you're back! I've missed you so much, dude! But when the fuck did you get back and why are you naked and why were you kissing me? And where the hell is my girlfriend?!"

"S-she's not real, Jack," I said quietly, and he looked at me.

"What the fuck are you talking about? Of course she's real. We had sex last night... and I told her I loved her... Where did she go?" he said, looking down and biting his lip. "Why would she just leave?"

My heart panged as I looked at him and I sighed.

"Jack... I'm Aly," I told him and he stared at me as if I had grown two heads.

"...Alex, what the fuck are you talking about?" he asked, shaking his head. "D-did you take something while you were gone? And where have you been?"

"Jack, I'm telling you the truth, you have to listen to m-"

"Alex! That's not fucking funny. Stop it!" he exclaimed and I sighed.

"I'm not kid-"

"Shut the fuck up," he said, shaking his head. "Now tell me where the fuck you've been! We've all been worried sick about you! I missed you, man."

"I haven't been anywhere, Jack. I'm trying to tell you-"

"Are you feeling better now? I was really concerned. I was scared you weren't going to come back," he said and I sighed.

"Jack, you're not listening to me," I said, biting my lip.

"I'm glad your home now, though. Bro, so much has happened. I met this amazing girl. I can't wait for you to meet her-"

"Jack, I'm not gonna be able to meet her! I am her!" I exclaimed and he looked at me, taken aback.

"Why do you keep saying that, Alex? Seriously. It's weird," he said and I shook my head.

"Because it's the truth," I told him. "Aly doesn't exist. I was Aly. She's not coming back, Jack."

"What the fuck, Alex? Of course she's coming back. She said she loved me. Why are you talking like a fucking crazy person?" he asked and I took a deep breath.

"I know it sounds so fucking crazy, but you have to believe me. I don't know how it happened, but I turned into a girl. I was Aly. I didn't just disappear for the last two months, I became a girl," I told him and he furrowed his eyebrows.

"Okay, I don't know what kind of drugs you're on, but I think we need to talk to Matt," he said and I huffed.

"I'm not on drugs! I'm telling you the honest truth! Aly is not real, and she's not coming back because I'm her and I'm back!"

"Why are you yelling at me?" he asked, looking up at me and disbelief. "And why do you keep saying that? Did something happen to her?"

"Jack, I can't make it any clearer. I'm sorry. Aly's gone. I turned back. She was never really here. It's always been me," I told him and he stared at me.

"I don't know what the fuck you're talking about," he said, moving the blanket off of himself and standing up. "But I don't like it. And I'm sorry, but I need to find my girlfriend. If you change your mind about actually wanting to meet her or be happy for me, give me a call."

He searched around the floor, grabbing his jeans and pulling them back on.

"Jack, I wish you would listen to me-"

"I'm done listening to your bull shit, Alex! You're not making any sense. And honestly, you're being kind of a shitty friend right now," he said, pulling his shirt over his head.

"And you're being really fucking selfish right now," I said, staring at him and shaking my head.

"Right. I'm the selfish one," he said, grabbing his iphone off the bedside table. "Welcome home, bro."

He turned on his heel, grabbing his jacket and slamming the door shut.

I stared at the door, biting my lip. I crossed to the bed, sitting on the edge of it and putting my face in my hands. I shut my eyes, taking deep breaths. I would have to be a fool to think that would have gone any differently. To think that Jack would believe me, or even more, accept me.

I heard the door open, but I didn't look up. I knew it wasn't Jack, and I really didn't want to talk to anyone at the moment.

"Oh, Alex," I heard Cassadee say. I felt the bed shift as she sat down next to me. She wrapped her arms around me in a hug, leaning her head against mine as she rubbed my back. I took a deep, shaky breath, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall. "It's okay, hon."

I shook my head, sniffing and letting a small sound escape.

"I know, Lex. I know."My poor babies Awh.
