“She’s about to go fucking nuts,” I told May, taking a bite of my ice cream.

“Good. We need to wake her little ass up,” May joked, patting my stomach.

I continued eating happily, feeling Josie begin to stir. I felt her twist and roll, making me cringe.

“Here we go,” I laughed, patting my stomach. “Good morning, Josie Rae.”

“So nice of you to wake up at one in the afternoon,” May grinned.

“Say ‘shut up, Auntie May. I can do what I want, I’m the princess,” I said, grinning and rubbing my stomach.

“Auntie May,” May said, smile growing wider. “I love it.”

“Good,” I responded. “That’s what she’s gonna call you.”

“My niece,” May cooed.

“Your niece ate her ice cream too fast,” I told her. “She has the hiccups.”

“Poor little piggy.” May patted my stomach.

I laughed, relaxing back in my chair and feeling the rhythmic beats of her hiccups. It was like someone has put a metronome inside of my stomach.

“Does it feel amazing?” May asked, looking down at my stomach and seeing it twitch slightly as Josie rolled over.

“Yeah, it does,” I answered.

“I can’t wait to see what it’s like,” she told me.

“You should. Just enjoy your nice for now. You can give me on later,” I told her.

“Oh yeah, I know,” she laughed.

“I wouldn’t have had it this way if I had a choice. I would have waited until Alex was done with college and we had a stable life,” I told her. “But now that Josie’s here in my belly, I don’t think I would change a thing. This has all turned out perfect in its own screwed up way.”

May smiled, patting my stomach before raising an eyebrow.

“Jack,” she said, and I looked down.

There was a small shape, something almost circular protruding out from under my skin. It was a little to the left of my belly button, about an inch above it. I quirked an eyebrow, looking back up at May.

“What is that?” she questioned.

“I think it’s Josie’s foot. Or maybe her knee,” I told her, and her eyes widened.

“Does that hurt?!” she questioned.

“Sort of,” I said. “I don’t know. It just feels sore like everything else.”

“That’s weird,” she said, reaching her hand out cautiously and touching it.

I put my hand on my stomach, sticking my finger out and poking the small bump. I watched it retract, and then it was pushed back out again. I laughed, looking up at May.

“I need to show Alex,” I said, straddling up slowly. I waddled towards the living room. “Alex!”

“Yeah, babe?” he asked, turning his head in my direction.

“Look at this!” I exclaimed, sitting down between him and Zack. I pointed to my stomach.

I watched Alex’s eyes travel down, widening when they settled on my bump.

“What the fuck is that?!” he demanded.

“Josie’s knee,” I answered, and his eyes threatened to bulge from his head.

“W-w- Is that normal?!” he asked.

“Yes,” I told him.

“Are you sure?!”

“Yes, Alex. Calm down,” I told him, laughing. “Poke it.”

“I don’t wanna hurt her!”

“You’re not gonna hurt her,” I told him, rolling my eyes. “Just push on it lightly.”

He reached his hand out, glancing at me in an unsure manner.

“Poke it,” I repeated.

He pressed his fingers gently against it, watching her knee pull back.

“Oh god! I didn’t hurt her, did I?!” he asked, jerking his hand back. “I’m sorry, Josie! Daddy’s s-”

He stopped talking as Josie pushed her knee out again.

I grinned, poking at it and watching as she retracted it and pushed it back out towards me.

“She’s playing with us,” I told Alex, grinning.

“How do you know?” Zack asked.

“Yeah, maybe she’s in there going ‘Goddamnit, why are you poking me? I’m just trying to sleep!” Rian said, and I laughed.

“At least she’s ineracting with us,” I grinned.

We got to play with her a few more times before she withdrew her knee and kept it drawn.

“See, I told you you were pissing her off,” Rian teased.

“She’s not mad, I would be able to tell.”

“Is she still hiccupping?” May asked, and I nodded.

“She gets the hiccups?” Zack asked curiously.

“Yeah,” I told him. “She gets them a lot.”

“How?”

“When she practices breathing by inhaling and exhaling the amniotic fluid,” I explained, and he nodded.

“What does it feel like?” Rian asked.

“Like when she would kick when she was smaller. Like a beat or a rhythm inside of you,” I told him, not really sure how to explain it to him. “It’s like I have a little drummer inside of me.”

“Sounds… weird,” Rian said, and I nodded.

“It’s a little weird, but you get used to it,” I told him. “But since she’s getting so big, she doesn’t have much room to move around so she doesn’t really kick too much. It’s more elbowing and pushing. And squirming and rolling over. She also has this cute little habit of sticking her feet up in my ribs.”

“You will be nine months next week,” Alex told me.

“I know,” I told him. “And in three weeks we’ll have a child to hold.”

“Holy shit,” I heard Rian say, and I grinned.

“Holy shit doesn’t even begin to describe it,” I told him, laughing.

“Can I just bring the whole thing downstairs instead of filling boxes up with clothes?” Alex asked.

“No, because then we’d have to carry it back up to her room when it’s time for her to move into her nursery,” I told him, putting my hand on my back as I felt my abdomen cramp up. “We only need the newborn clothes.”

“0-3 months?” Alex asked, and I nodded.

“You okay, Jack?” Zack asked me, pausing in the doorway of Josie’s nursery with a box of clothes to take downstairs.

“Y-yeah,” I said. “I just need to sit down.”

I left the room, going into mine. A couple of the dresser drawers were gone, and I know Alex had just taken them downstairs.

I felt my stomach tighten, and I groaned. I laid down, laying on my side slightly. The change of positions took the feeling away, and I sighed.

“You okay, babe?” Alex asked, coming into the room. “Zack said you didn’t look so good.”

“I’m fine. Braxton hicks,” I answered.

“Oh. I’m sorry. Go downstairs and watch TV. We have everything under control.”

“Okay,” I said, sitting up slowly.
I feel like this chapter is really filler-ish, and not as good as the other ones.
But I still think it's really cute, also.

I also wish that I would have been able to end it today, because this would be the date of Josie's actual birthday :) hahaha
