extreme maximum fun

Jun 28, 2007 18:47

okay, real update time. I had the pleasure of spending the past 2 weeks with likeforeverago and her 5head and I just have to say that she is a very enjoyable person and I cannot wait to have sweet hangz with her in WI/MN, and if you are her LJ friend I recommend that you have sweet hangz with her of your own because she is funny and she says some of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard in my life, plus she'll skip down the hall with you at like 2 in the morning and that is an A+ quality in a person.

mmkay, I've been to quite a few shows recently so heres a rundown:

Straylight Run/ Sparta/ Lovedrug: Lovedrug opened, and I really liked them. A lot of people think they are boring or whatnot, but I thought they were really solid and I really enjoy their latest album, so I thought they were pretty fab. Sparta was alright. I don't know any of their stuff except for their latest single, and they did an amazing job playing that. There were a lot of ATDI fanboys there totally bonering over them, so I guess they did pretty good for themselves. Straylight headlined and they were amazing. I really like SR and I had a feeling that their new stuff would kinda suck live, but it went over quite well. They played Big Shot so I was satisfied with their performance. This was like 2 weeks ago and I can't remember all the deets so sorry about this short descrip.

New Atlantic/ the Graduate/ 1997/ Monty are I/ the Audition: 1997 opened and they disappointed me. The chick's voice was lacking and you could totally tell this was their first real tour. They walked into each other/ the equipment a zillion times and were pretty sloppy. I wasn't expecting them to be perfect, just a lot better than that. The Graduate blew me away. I love Anhedonia sososo much, and I was really happy that they didn't suck live. Monty Are I brought the lolz so hard. Not only did we have barricade for this show, but we were next to the old ladies who were like travelling the country following the tour only to see Monty Are I, and not gonna lie they were kind of creepy. So I've never heard MAI in my life, and like the guitarist comes up to me of all people while they were playing. I thought he was going to give me the guitar pick, so I'm like thinking to myself "okay I have the pick get out of my face plz" but no, he wants me to play along to this song I've never heard, so not knowing what to do I start strumming really fast and it was so incorrect and I had to try so hard not to laugh. They were decent though, and their singer was kinda hot despite the fact he had rooster hair. New Atlantic was A+ as always. I love them so hard and they were still good even though Chris wasn't there (the rooster kid and Seth from the Audition filled in for him). After the show at the merch table Matt and Gio complemented me on my outfit, which was kind of funny considering I was just wearing a TJV shirt, and Gio told me he really liked my headband. I'd forgot all the songs that the Audition sung, like I knew the songs, I just thought some other band sung them, so I was pleasantly surprised during their set. I still don't care for them, but they were good, and that one kid in the band got really hot.

The Junior Varsity/ Thunderbirds Are Now!/ the Felix Culpa/ Street to Nowhere: Hands down the Felix Culpa are one of the bands here in the Chicago area and I love them for not being that sterotypical pop punk/ post hardcore that a lot of bands here sound like. They opened the show and were super fab. Street to Nowhere was alright. The singer was hot, and his voice was kinda whiny, but still good. I've seen Thunderbirds are Now! before, but they seemed like they were having so much more fun that night. I love tours like this one, when all the bands get along and randomly come party on the stage while someone else is playing, like the Brand New/ KevDev/ Manchester Orchestra tour. My bbs TJV were amazing as always, and I actually really like their new stuff. Its no Wide Eyed, but its still pretty good, and the instrumentation is superb. They were uppin teh drunx all night long, and they def haven't lost their sense of humor.

Flowers for Dorian/ Chimeria Twilight/ Asteria/ some other band I can't remember: I don't feel like talking about this show so I have to say is go preorder Flowers' EP at http://www.myspace.com/flowersfordorian

The Spice Girls are reuniting and I'm considering going to see them in New York if they don't come to Chicago because I love shitty pop music and I'm not ashamed of my love for it, plus the show is on my 21st birthday and getting crunk while watching Victoria Beckham lip sync sounds like a good plan to me. srsly, they are so cute and Sporty got hot.

finally, The Format are giving Dog Problems away for free and its an amazing album so if you don't have it already you should go to http://www.theformat.com and download it.

Sonic Youth in less than a month. I'm so excited about this you guys, I can't even explain it.
