It might not have been anything they would have done on the Upper East Side, but somehow, Serena felt like the little party they'd assembled was exactly perfect. Since they were celebrating Eric's sixteenth, she wouldn't have settled for anything less. The Winchester seemed like just the right place for a cozy, intimate gathering, small not for the sake of exclusivity but because it was kind of a family evening, however extended that family was.

With the Winchester usually closed on Tuesdays, the place was entirely theirs. There was pizza and drinks, and for dessert, a cake Serena had made (sort of. Anyway, she'd helped Ellie make it, which counted). With tables pulled together, Roger playing music for the evening and everyone gathered together, she was pretty sure Eric would have a great time. She just hoped she was right.
