Taking a step back, Serena turned to go, but not before giving Jenny one last sweet smile. "Happy holidays."
She sauntered out of the rec room, electing to bypass her original destination in favor for a quick trip to the basement and a check through the clothes box. In the nearly two years since she'd last had cause to play like that, she had nearly forgotten how good it could feel to put a challenger in her place. Really, it had never much mattered to Serena. She'd held her place on the social ladder through no means stronger than being herself, and little enough effort had been required. What she'd had to do had always come naturally anyway, or near enough to it. In the world where they'd grown up, a girl learned fast or got cut down early. She'd always been a quick study.
Lately, though, it had seemed like just another thing she'd left behind, along with her wilder ways. Jenny had given her more than enough reason, though. No one hurt Blair Waldorf without going through Serena van der Woodsen. It was as simple as that.
Finding nothing, she made her way upstairs again to discover that little Jenny had already disappeared. She was a smart girl, though not, apparently, smart enough. Still, she'd clearly pulled Chuck's strings and made to play Serena herself for a fool, which was all the more reason to take the girl down. Serena crossed the room, heading down the residence hall with more than usual caution. She didn't want to deal with Blair yet, no matter what she'd just said, but she'd had enough time to cool down now. Someone had to check in on Chuck. Heading to his room, she knocked on the doorframe and hoped little J wouldn't be there with him.
