It had been a relief, waking up herself again. Being small had, for a little while, been fun, but then it had just got strange and worrying again. Serena couldn't say exactly that she was back in her own body now, because it had always been hers, but now it felt like she fit ( Read more... )

Beat'd been plannin' on headin' out himself jus' before Serena came burstin' in. Standin' up from grabbin' his board, he looked over at her before quirkin' a small grin.

"Ain't even gonna say hello 'fore you ask?" he questioned, though he obviously didn't mind. "I was gonna come find you to see if you wanted to do somethin' anyway so yeah, I'll come along."

He ain't sure when the last time he actually made one, but he figured it ain't gonna be a problem.

Serena closed the door behind her before she walked over to slip her arms up around his neck, pulling him in for a kiss. When she pulled away, it was to tip her head back and smile. "Hello." She took a step away, adjusting the strap of her bag. "If you had something else in mind, sandcastles can wait. The beach isn't going anywhere." Mostly she'd wanted just to do something with him, whatever it turned out to be.

That was the kinda greetin' he didn't mind, an' he was almost disappointed when she pulled away.

"Hold up, gotta think 'bout my busy schedule," he said, pausin' for effect. Didn't take him long to grin at her."Naw, ain't got anythin' planned, yo. Was jus' gonna walk around an' look for stuff to do anyway. Was hopin' to bump into you, in fact."

"Well, I've saved you the trouble," she said cheerfully. With the way she wandered around in the afternoons, it could have taken forever. This was much better.

Slipping her hands down his arms to tangle her fingers through his, she stepped forward again, pulling his arms back around her. "Come on," she said, "the sandcastles are waiting. Or not, because I haven't built them yet, which is just a tragedy for the sandcastle community as a whole."

"Well, I ain't wantin' to do that," he said, almost soundin' serious, though his smirk probably gave it away. He was pretty sure doin' anythin' with her would be better than jus' sittin' 'round, doin' nothin'. He motioned for her to lead on. "I'm right behind you. Sooner we go, sooner we can fix the problem of you not buildin' one yet."

She took a few steps backwards toward the door before she turned, opening it to head out again. "A very serious problem," she agreed, mock-solemn. Continuing down the path, she cast a glance back over her shoulder at him. "It could determine the course of my fate - I mean, whether I pass out from sheer boredom or not. I feel this close to it."

"Boredom shoulda went out the window soon as you found me. I'm kinda hurt," he replied, even soundin' mock offended. He fell in step with her pretty easily, nudgin' her lightly with his elbow. "I ain't bein' one-upped by sandcastles, am I?"

Serena lifted a hand to her mouth, looking wide-eyed at him. "It's true," she said, fingers dropping to rest against her collarbone. She sighed, fluttering her lashes. "I'm leaving you for the beach. It's - it's - the sand's so warm and the way the waves just lap up against me, I can't help myself. However did you find me out?" Glancing sideways at him, she grinned.

"Jus' had a feelin'," he said, lookin' over at her an' shootin' her a serious expression. "I figure I oughta warn you that I think the beach might go 'round cheatin' on you. I've seen it hangin' out with a couple of girls lately."

She sighed heavily, shaking her head at that. "I should have known," she said. "When it seemed too good to be true... It's not too late, is it? For us?" As she walked, she wriggled her shoulders from side to side, too much energy making it difficult to playact at seriousness for long. On a bright sunny day with Beat at her side and sugar in her system, it felt good just to joke and to forget that, less than a month ago, she really had worried, if only briefly.

"Dunno," he said, with a long, exaggerated sigh. That he was keepin' a straight face still was pretty good for him. "I jus' don't know how I'm gonna trust you again. An' you didn't even apologize or nothin'."

She certainly couldn't hold one for very long, but she made a noble effort now, biting her lip and holding in giggles. "Well," she said, reaching for his hand, arm swinging as she turned to walk along backwards ahead of him, "I am very, very sorry for even considering it. I'll just have to find some way to make it up to you. I mean, if you can forgive me."

"Guess it'd be aight to bend a little this time," he said, an' he couldn't keep his scowl from turnin' into a grin. Was gettin' too hard to keep it up. "If you're gonna make up for it an' all, I mean. Gotta be a pretty impressive makin' up kinda thing, though."

"Oh, I'm sure I'll think of something," she teased, stopping in her tracks. Sliding a hand up over his shoulder, she leaned in to kiss him. They were hardly in any hurry to get to the beach and being out in public had never deterred her. She grinned, brow raising. "Although I'm always open to suggestion."

He rested his hands on her waist, tuggin' her a little closer. He didn't mind this either, though he never did.

"Naw, I'm thinkin' I like surprises," he murmured, an' he was sure she could deliver that. She'd shown she was real good at them already, an' he didn't think that'd be changin' any time soon. "Though right now, I'm lookin' forward to seein' your lopsided sand castles."

She laughed, drawing her head back to wrinkle up her nose at him. "Hey," she said, mock-offended, "who said it'd be lopsided?" It was easy, though, to draw her forward, and, pressing in, she curled her fingers against his neck. She had an idea or two about where she could start, but that could wait for the moment. "My sandcastles are, I'll have you know, perfect, like everything I do." She bit her lip a moment, leaning in for another quick kiss as she grinned. "Come on."
