Friday it poured, all day. I needed a sketch book for a class trip Saturday morning. The student store was out of them. The only retail district I could walk to probably didn't have them. I was stuck in a rainy city I was unfamiliar with and without a car. Luckily I hoped a Wash U shuttle with Emily to office depot. After that we went and had sandwhiches. Courtney called and asked if I had picked her up a sketch book...which I hadn't. So back at office depot
"That will be ten seventy-one...should I stick it in the bag with the rest of 'em," the clerk slowly said.
"Uh sure, thanks."
"Have you two been eating French fries?"
"No"
"Really...I can smell it on your clothes."
"Huh?" Emily asked confused, sniffing her yellow tee shirt.
"I have a panini in this bag," I offered.
"Oh...panini...that's what I thought ya'll had!"
[No, you thought we had eaten French fries.]
I spent the rest of the night being a dork and hanging out on Lee-3.
Saturday we took a walking tour of St. Louis. It is such a sad city. Beyond the glossy arch and Jefferson Expansion memorial it is a sea of deserted lots, abandoned buildings and run down stores. It is hard to believe St. Louis was once of the country's top cities. There would be a lot to photography though.
Saturday evening Courtney and I asked discovered Rag-o-rama...the Loop's biggest vintage shop where I got some rockin' pants for seven dollars.
Later that night I once again re-affirmed my belief that just holding someone in bed is the greatest thing ever.
Sunday was filled with laundry and much reading and a worthless night at the frats. It made me crave civilization and artsy fartsy gallery openings in LA and wrap parties or anything with some level of sophistication and alcohol. Today has been more homework and making of a useless 1/16th scale model.
Thanks my itunes linking up with other computers I have Ace of Base "It's a Beatiful Life" stuck in my head. Although Smasking Pumpkins "Stand inside your love" has been in my head straight for the past week -- I think becuase it reminds me of LA so much.
