[LOG] Cayden and Ky

Nov 28, 2008 10:19

The thought of his own bed had kept him going today. He'd pull another late nighter, caught up in some research, then had to wake up early for classes and head straight to work right afterward. He'd skipped lunch too, something he normally wouldn't have done, but there'd been too much to get done today with too little time to do it in. He'd managed ( Read more... )

Ky's own eyebrow twitched, utterly and completely aware of the puzzled look Cayden was shooting at him. But there were more important things to do. Yes. More important.

Like. Studying. Or planning what he had to do for his finals project. Or grading papers. Yeah. Stuff like that.

Not thinking about what he saw inside at all.

Goddamn it. He was trying not to think about it. Not sit here facepalming as he tried to erase that image and NOT discuss what happened to Cayden.

"... Ky," he said after a few good moments of watching his roommate being utterly... avoidant. The last time he'd seen that look on Ky's face, Ravel had somehow managed to mistake their room for his own and had invited someone over and well...

Needless to say he'd had the same look on his face that day too.

"Is it Ravel again?" he prompted, glancing over towards the door. He was somewhat doubtful though, there weren't the same warning noises that he'd gotten used to whenever he thought about visiting Ravel in his room at a bad time.

"No," Ky mumbled as he dropped his hands from his face and opened his backpack rather... violently. Or maybe hurriedly. Either way, he needed that textbook.

Yes, studying. Something about engineering. Nice and complicated.

He blinked once before giving a slight shrug. So long as he didn't have to walk in on Ravel being "busy" there wasn't too much else that Cayden could think of that'd bother him.

Giving Ky one last curious look, he stepped around the other man and unlocked the door, stepping into the room.

... Only to step back out a moment later, staring blankly at the now closed door.

Inside, Aegis had seated herself in front of Cayden's computer monitor, watching an explicit preview porn video on a pop up. Her head was tilted in curious fascination with this oddity of modern life. Sex wasn't foreign to her, but this was new. The tip of her tail flicked back and forth thoughtfully.

Back outside, Ky had bent his head over a text and was trying to read it and not think of what he had walked in on earlier.

"......... K-" he started before cutting himself off, all too understanding of why Ky was now buried in his textbook with that same look on his face. Mostly because he was now making the same face at the door and trying really hard not to think about-

Why my computer? was the only thing he could really think.

After a few more moments of silence and staring and trying to forget, Cayden finally cleared his throat with the one suggestion he could think of to help them forget everything that'd happen in the last few minutes.

"Wanna get some drinks?"

Ky looked up and at the expression on Cayden's face, considering the offer. Then looked back down.

"Gladly."

He shut the book and shoved it away into his backpack as he stood. Normally, he would have stashed it in the room before going, but this time. No, he'd rather not open the door again. Maybe in a couple hours.

And at least it hadn't been his own computer.

He shouldered his own bag, waiting for Ky to get up before heading down the hall beside him. Conversation topics tried to filter their way through his head, but he couldn't focus on one long enough without seeing Aegis staring intently at a graphic porn scene.

Oh jeez he'd just had another flashback.

He shook his head unconciously, glancing over at his roommate.

"... So when'd you get back?" he attempted weakly.

Ky twitched as he recalled what he'd walked in on when he'd come back early from classes. It had been a nice change. Really. Class cancelled to allow for projects to be finished. Ky had been looking forward to napping. But no. He walked in on that instead.

Goddamn it, he had to stop thinking about it.

"Five minutes before you did," he finally responded.

... This really was going to be a lot harder to forget than either of them had hoped it would be. He let his fingers play idly with the strap of his bag, glancing around, attempting to focus on anything that wouldn't remind him of what would hopefully not be waiting for them in their room when they got back.

"Class let out early?" The weak attempts at conversation were really quite obvious if anyone had bothered listening in on them.

"Yeah," Ky nodded, willing to latch onto that. "He figured he'd give us time to finish our designs for next week instead of lecturing further. He's getting extra sleep out of this, I think."

He glanced back over at Cayden. "You?"

He managed a smile at Ky's last note, all too aware of professors who used that same line in order to get their own things taken care of.

"Work let me go early today." It hadn't been as busy as his boss had thought it would, so Cayden had volunteered to be the one to go home. He'd needed to catch up on some homework, having set it aside to delve into his own research, but that could most certainly wait, given the circumstances.

"Where'd you want to head for drinks?"

"There's a pub across from the English department that just opened. I think they've got drinks and food discounted this week."

Normally, he preferred the pub two blocks down from the engineering department, but. Well. Cheaper food was nice. And if forced to be honest, Ky didn't want to risk seeing Derek or Kane tonight. He'd prefer less headaches after that last-

Damn it. His eyebrow twitched.

"I'll pay for drinks."

He gave a nod of his head in return, catching the twitch of Ky's eyebrow, which set off a chain reaction as he remembered what Ky was probably remembering.

It really was that hard to forget.

"We'll split," he replied automatically, something Ky was probably used to hearing in their time together.

Meaning Cayden probably remembered too.

"You pay for food, I'll cover drinks," Ky bargained.

"All right," he smiled again, reaching the same agreement they seemed to reach everytime. It was a wonder why they even bothered discussing it by now, but that's always how things went with them.

"You didn't eat yet?"
