the Cure

Yeah I had awesome seating. I don't care. All I saw was a black mass with black hair, which I took to be a bear costume until I realized it was Robert Smith in pajamas.
  • a lot of people in the audience had nachos. Have we grown so complacent with 80's bands that seeing them in concert is exactly like watching them from the couch? Lot of nachos, candy, and COTTON CANDY which wasn't even black.
  • You can identify the really dedicated Cure fans by their stillness. Unlike the girls who sway and go woo, the real Cure fans sit quietly with their hands steepled in prayer.
  • "In Between Days" is everyone's cue to pop out of their seats and bounce, in unison. There was still a lot of typical awkward restraint and no one got silly until
  • LOVECATS
  • no one understands what the hell Robert Smith is muttering

They played for over 3 hours, and finally Aaron and I left in mid-song. It was so much. I was hoping they'd play "Want" which is basically my favorite song and would have been unreal live, but they were going in the other direction entirely: boys don't cry, the singles, disintegration, etc.
