so, channel 9's biggest step forward into digital media, so far, starts tonight(in just over an hour).
while channel ten went with a 24hour sports channel "one", which, by all accounts has proven a ratings smash with their presentation of every game in this years national netball championship(slightly annoying when they're showing the exact same sporting event as they are on their regular channel, though), and seven still cannot come up with something better than having a second midday movie on in the afternoon, after their failure to do anything with their digital media channels when broadcasting the olympics, this new "entertainment" channel appears to be failing at the australian content portion of the related media rules.
in the first 24 hours of their broadcasting, they will be showing "austalia's funniest home videos"....
twice.
ok, from 1am until 7am they present something called the aria music show, so they may be skirting around the content laws by claiming that putting some australian made graphics over the international video clips that will populate the slot makes the show legitimately aussie made, being that it's the australian music charts and they may even throw a few presenters on in between to make it look even more "trueblu" during the massive amounts of jamster ringtone ads that i'm sure have already populated that timeslot...
sure, some people might argue that's all rage has ever been, but abc television always had more australian content to begin with and didn't need to make rage as a way to fill up australian content (just content).
still, even if they do use it as an oz-con con, it's more admirable than that patch of "hotdogs up late quiz show" and the two clone shows the other networks put on, back in 2007....
the fiend
my set top box will be getting a work out... (phwoar!)
