a little birdy sent me a missive, recently, and i feel i should share it with one and all....
it appears there has been a grassroots movement out there from people who feel they've been repressed long enough and they're sick to death of having to hide their true selves from one and all...
under the rather non-politically correct banner of mad pride, they're here, they're mentally disturbed and you'd better get used it, cause they're not going to take their medication, anymore...
the above statement, of course, resembles a rather gross oversimplification of the case that the the icarus project find themselves delivering to those that willingly stop long enough to look a bunch of potentially dangerous lunatics in the eye....
a quick look through their webpage makes me think of the writings from the nlist, mixed with the old disinfo pages, attempts to gather the fallen/chosen with the same sort of self realization/navel gazing that you can get from any self indulgent teen blog(or wordier postsecret entry...).
the new york times have also brought it to peoples attention, so i wonder how long until they appear on oprah or, depending on how much they wish to ridicule the good intentions that may pave a few personal hells, dr phil.
but, the medical community can be seen as assisting with parts of their stance. the ongoing push to break down schizophrenia into multiple different diagnoses, from twenty to two hundred, have been suggested by some medical professionals as a way to assist those who receive the wrong treatment for their conditions based on the recommended treatment for the one cause.
i'm partially torn about if we should use their pages for resource materials or if we should point them towards ours....
