Jazz found himself blinking at Devin, watching as the other boy hid his face in his hands. His whole face had turned an impressive shade of scarlet -- something Jazz thought only he was capable of.

He felt a smile of his own tugging its way across his lips, realization setting in as Devin continued to blush himself to death. "You like guys," he breathed, and without thinking, he added: "You like me."

"Shut up," Devin grumbled between his fingers. Slowly, he pulled one hand away from his face, even though he continued to hide his eyes with his other. "Do not. Just 'cause you have a nice ass doesn't mean I --"

"Oh my god," Jazz managed, hiding his own face in his hands as he felt his own blush intensify. "You didn't just --"

"Fuck no, I didn't," Devin mumbled, his embarrassment clear in his voice. "Just -- pretend I never fucking said anything okay?"

Jazz just shook his head, feeling his shoulders shake with silent, embarrassed laughter. His face still burned as he pulled his hands away from it. He studied Devin; noticed how Devin's face was only just beginning to resume it's usual color. "What if I don't want to?" he prompted before he could stop himself, glancing down at his school work and tapping his pen on his paper.

"What d'you mean?" Devin asked, managing to pull his other hand away from his face. He still wouldn't look Jazz in the eye. "Just 'cause you said you don't like girls doesn't mean you --" He cut himself off with a quick shake of his head, his blush deepening once more.

Jazz grinned at that, a momentary feeling of boldness overcoming him as he leaned in close to Devin. He dropped his voice low as he whispered in Devin's ear: "Don't worry. I think you've got a nice ass, too."

When Devin's face went from scarlet to purple, Jazz just grinned wider and pulled away from the other boy. "You want to go get something to eat, later?" he asked before the boldness left him. He cleared his throat and swallowing his own momentary nervousness as it tried to make its return. "Like a date, I mean. After you're done your next class."

Devin's mouth fell open for a minute, a dazed look overcoming his features for a minute as he blinked at Jazz in confusion. He then closed his mouth once more and shook his head. Jazz felt his heart sink in his chest, his grin immediately falling from his face.

"Yeah, sure," Devin answered finally, meeting Jazz's eyes briefly. "What time?"

"Five sound okay?" Jazz asked, sitting up straighter. "We can go to the Korner Diner and get some coffee."

"Y-Yeah. Sounds good." Devin glanced at his phone, his eyes widening somewhat. "Shit, gotta go. My next class's --"

"Just give me your number before you go?" Jazz asked, pulling out his own phone and biting his lip. "Just so I can find you after you're done class?"

"Dude, we're neighbors. Wouldn't be hard to --" Devin cut himself off again and gave Jazz an apologetic smile. "Sorry. Here." He jotted down his number, area code and all, and slipped it to Jazz. "Later!" he called as he slipped his book bag back over his shoulder and rushed out the library door.

Five couldn't get there fast enough.
