Changeling's Chieftains

My clinical duty over the last few months has been so heavy I hadn't been able to come to a Three Rivers event of any kind since Crystal Ball last November. Many of the Three Rivers folks were therefore happily surprised to see me, since they thought I'd actually already moved away. Hee! :-)

Chieftains is the yearly grand revel held by the Barony of Three Rivers in the depths of winter, and one of the Kingdom's great annual events. The date has been circled on my calendar since it was first announced, and I made a lot of trades -- and extra hours -- to make sure I could clear the day of conflicting clinical duty. I lined up the one day off I had in a sixteen-day work run to coincide with Chieftains, and it was *well* worth it. :-)

There was fiddling, and there was singing, and there was dancing. There was the all-day moveable feast, noshing on course after course of sumptuous food without having to interrupt what we were doing. There was just spending the day hanging out and catching up with many wonderful friends from near and far. And there was many of those same wonderful friends getting recognized with all kinds of awards and titles and promotions in heraldic rank, huzzah! From pick-up music first thing in the morning, to the Changeling's Ball to end the night, a glorious day from start to finish.

Not enough time. Never enough time. But grateful for what time I do have. And the kind friends everywhere who have always kindly welcomed me, when I am given the luxury of time to spend.

Onwards to Terpscichore! Yay, dancing!
