Below is a picture out the back window of the Ob/Gyn clinic I have been rotating at up at the University of Michigan's East Ann Arbor medical complex, a picture of the rolling fields that form part of the 200 acre property UM owns up in Ann Arbor's north-east corner.

Actually, some of the design concepts our engineers had been working on for the new Children's Hospital experimented with planting trees and flowers and grass on the roof, as part of the overall effort to build a "green" hospital. We had a whole meeting to evaluate the concept.

The technology isn't quite there yet, but by 2050, we might just be able to build a park which happens to have a hospital underneath it. :-)

Green roofs (rooves?) ROCK.

Apparently there's research somewhere that sez that patients get better faster when they have access to Nature.
