V-day

Valentine's Day in japan consists of girls giving boys chocolates and couples going on dates. NOT boys giving chocolate...that is on White Day which is March 14th. (Someone will be here on March 14th that is female..)
I just got happily cornered by three 7th grade girls who wanted to know if I had recieved chocolate from any women. The giggling was non-stop, but once we determined only one person had gifted me with such a sign of affection I was given pitying cow eyes and a covered mouth. Strange reactions to me, but if they thought I should have had more valentines then it's a complement I suppose.
Of note is that candy of any kind is the equivalent to pot in American schools, and that is exactly the exchange I just had. These girls were soliciting chocolate and wouldn't fess up to it until I said I wanted more---otherwise it would be entrapment and I could arrest em. A clandestine move landed a homemade recess cup lookalike in my left hand, accompanied by three girls making the "sshhh!" noise and saying "secret!" a decibals heard on the entire first floor. Luckily it wasn't drugs or I don't think any of us would be at large right now.
The chocolate was the cutest litt thing with those edible silver bbs and chocolate sprinkles pressed into the top of it. The girl poured the hot chocolate herself and produced it from a small ziploc bag not unlike many small ziploc bags which have produces tabs or kinebud.
Heh. Endearing japanese customs, its flattering. Though, I was adroitly informed of how the system works...now I benefit and in one month the favor better be returned (it is my belief that extortion is now being levered against me). Those girls and I are now locked in a criminal pact that could shatter Tamonhigashi Junior High School if the truth gets out...and all for the love of chocolate.

I love Japan.
