Character: Phoenix Wright
Series/Fandom: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Original or Template version: Original
Age: 33
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Sexuality: Co-dependent Bisexual
Marked?: Yes, a crown over his right shoulder blade.

Appearance: A rather scruffy looking man who tends to wear sweatpants and sweatshirts of a dark nature, as well as well worn sandals on his feet. He could certainly use a shave, days worth of stubble growing from his chin, and is always found wearing a bright aqua beanie on his head: with 'PaPa' sewn in neon pink on it's side.

Personality: Phoenix is a bit more laid back now than he was years ago. He mainly exists between his job of playing poker and raising his 'daughter' Trucy. His priorities have shifted during the 7 years he's been unemployed by the state, but deep down, he's still the same Phoenix.

Though his heart is still in the right place, and he would do anything for those close to him, he's grown a bit cynical in his old age. He's known to have a rather corny yet warped sense of humor, and despite being very approachable, he is nowhere near as trusting as he was when he was an attorney. Though, if you come to him to challenge him at poker, keep in mind that he will certainly brag about being impossible to defeat.

There's quite a spark to him, seen when he reenters a court room. He hasn't become rusty with his age and still knows quite a bit about criminal law, even though what he does isn't always on the side of it. Sure, he isn't above forging evidence, but it's not like he's a lawyer or anything.

Abilities/Strengths: Phoenix is excellent at reading people. He picked this up during his time in court, and perfected it during his job at a restaurant where he's mainly hired to play poker.

And he's never. Lost. Once.

It isn't hard to imagine having an unbeatable streak when you can tell what your opponent is thinking, mainly by subtle cues and little twitches that they tend to betray.

He's also very analytical: he's good at problem solving, and he can think his way through almost any scenario, even if he only has a few pieces of 'evidence' to guide him through.

Weaknesses: Despite the usual weaknesses that come with being a human (such as falling, drowning, bleeding too much, etc) he's very cynical, and he's way more distrusting of people now than he used to be. He's also less inclined to helping people if he doesn't know who they are, sticking mainly with those he's known. He's also prone to 'bending the truth' at times, especially if he's testing the integrity of the person he's dealing with.

Part of him still regrets losing his badge so many years ago, and he carries a bit of guilt with him, though he has debated on going back to retake his bar exam.

History: Phoenix had a relatively normal family life, born to two parents who were more entwined with their hippie years than normal (naming your kid Phoenix?) and gave Phoenix a bit more freedom growing up than boys were usually expected to. Because of this, he was a bit more emotionally uninhibited, and tended to cry a lot more than the average boy. He was fond of art, and tended to paint more than run outside and play. However, he was excellent at making friends, and had one best friend: Larry Butz, who gave him the nickname 'Nick'.

Fourth grade was a defining moment for him. Another student accused him of stealing lunch money, and soon the whole class was against him. The teacher decided to put on a mock trial, and even though Phoenix cried that he was innocent, nobody believed him. Nobody.. except for Miles Edgeworth, a fellow student and son of Gregory Edgeworth, famous defense attorney of his
time. He showed that nobody had any evidence to convict Phoenix, so the accusations weren't valid. That day would continue to inspire Phoenix years later.

Miles soon became friends with Larry and Nick, though it was short lived: after Christmas break, Miles transfered out of their school, and Nick couldn't get in touch with him, despite various phone calls and letters written. It was like Miles vanished off the planet, and Nick couldn't figure out why.

Years passed. Phoenix went on to become a literature major in college, falling in with a girl named Dahlia Hawthorne. He was accused of murder and was brought before the court, being defended by a lawyer named Mia Fey. The actions the trial took inspired him so much that he gave up his current major and decided to focus on being a lawyer, driven by Mia and the rumor that Miles Edgeworth had become a feared prosecutor.

His work paid off, and he encountered his friend once more in a court room. It took quite a bit of effort on Phoenix's part, but he was able to establish a sort of friendship with Edgeworth once more, and became known as an excellent lawyer. However, this would not last forever: three years of near perfect cases ended with a trial where he presented forged evidence, and he lost his badge. Ashamed, he disappeared for nearly seven years, taking a job up as a pianist and an expert poker player at a Russian restaurant called the Borscht Bowl. While he says he doesn't know how to play, he's actually rather self conscious about playing in front of people, and only really played if someone requested it, choosing to instead develop his poker skills instead of flaunting his music ability.

A murder trial that ended up involving his friend, Kristoph Gavin, sucked him back into the court system, and he has worked with Apollo Justice several times, taking a fondness in the kid as Apollo had reminded Phoenix of what it was like starting out, their last big case involving the second sentencing of Kristoph, and the idea of returning to law tugging on his mind.

He wouldn't get the chance, however: one night at work, a sour loser pulled a gun out at him and shot him fatally. When he awoke, he found himself in Template..
