The 80s had the best disturbing childrens movies. Labyrinth was the tamest of them all, really. The Neverending Story had the horse dying, the giant wolf, and the Nothing destroying the world. The Dark Crystal was pretty creepy, too.
The jewel on the crown, though, was Return to Oz: Dorothy in a mental institution, wheelers turning into sand, the woman with the collection of heads.
Now all kids get are talking zoo animals and talking cars.
