Annoyance

Sep 09, 2011 20:00

I just realized today is the 9th of September of the year 11, it's not 9/11 but the numbers are there in the day and year and Sep 11 is approaching. That's why the inspector was at the airport yesterday trying to sneak past us pretending to be a civilian. Luckily we caught him and didn't let him pass. They'll probably be testing us until after the ( Read more... )

This is a small airport (despite it being one of the largest runways this side of the world) and people can go to the waiting area as they wish but a boarding pass and photo ID are required to go through security. Those who want to go along with family but are not leaving need a gate pass. Then they need to be escorted out through a separate door that leads to the baggage claim area. No one can walk back through security in the opposite direction, not even employees, though we do cut in line with the employee ID. I won't let the sneaky inspectors win!

So much work! I saw on TV that people are putting bombs inside their bodies through minor surgery to get past airport security. Just when you thought crazy people couldn't get any crazier!

Sorry about the extra work! I just about gave up getting a new visa to the US. The process became so bureaucratic and complex!

I guess it's a necessary evil! ~shrugs~

It's not as much work for us as it is for the inspectors, but we need to make sure not to be tricked by them.

I thought you could get anywhere with just a passport. Getting mine wasn't too hard.

I wish! I think only some european people are allowed into the US without a visa! We used to only have to fill in a form, pay US$ 60.00 and way some days to get it! Now they ask for a digital picture with a series of photographic directions: light, angle, background... Like we're all supposed to be professional photographers... Or like there are several professionals around that would give me the digital file. After I upload that I think I'll get the form, pay and have an interview with someone from the embassy. It's really too much trouble if you ask me!

That's a lot. As far as I know, I can go anywhere with my passport, I haven't tried to go to Europe or South America but I've never heard of having to be interviewed for it. They were semi-specific with the pics, white background, no smiling (that's the part that surprised me and I had to get new pics because I smiled for the first set) I was still able to get them at Walgreens.

There were plans found when Bin Laden was finally caught that hinted at an attack in September (terrorists would want to have more of an "effect" by causing trouble in the anniversary) so even if the creep is dead they're on guard in case there's vengeance coming ( ... )
