I don't understand how moving out is any easier than staying where you are and finding a roommate. Methinks you just haven't been trying hard enough! I bet you could find a roommate by tomorrow if you put enough effort into it, and that's clearly the better solution.

Don't give up the ship yet, man. Just keep trying to find a roommate!

Sorry, that came out kind of wrong. That's what I get for hurrying through an LJ response!

Have you asked at the rental office if it's possible to give your 30-day notice, then CANCEL that if you find someone to live with you? Because I'll bet it is. Like, you could give your 30-days' notice today, then if you find someone to room with you next week, you could just go tell the rental office, "hey, situations have changed, and I'm going to be staying after all". Ask how the pricing breakdown would be for that, and ask if they can give you a break on your late 30-day notice. Most rental offices are willing to make an exception if you've been a good tenant, and if they feel there's promise that you'll continue to be a good tenant.

If its within the first week, maby they said, but after then it is unlikely.

I've been posting on roommates.com & craigslist all last week man. I have no hits on the place.
And I also asked today for a break, they said no. They would not even allow a break for paying this huge bill, like in installments or a payment plan, it must be lump sum.

I spoke with Joanne a bit and she suggested getting a personal loan as a way of paying it off. My GF suggested getting an extension on my credit card and putting expenses on there.

Man, that sucks. You've been a good tenant, so I don't know why they'd be dicks about this. Well, sorry man... I don't know what else to tell you. Hopefully it'll all work out in some way.
