Girlfriend Gift Guide

A conversation I just had about Valentine's Day with a certain male friend (who shall remain nameless) reminded me how little guys our age know about choosing presents and planning holidays. I know Valentine's Day isn't that important, but it's still a stressful time for a lot of boyfriends and I'm sure they'll find these tips useful for birthdays ( Read more... )

Both hilarious AND awesome.

I disagree with some of it (I enjoy big colorful Gerber daisies) but it was pretty awesome. I miss you lots!

P.S. I also disagree that there is a "wrong" gift. I know it sounds so dumb and you'd think that guys in our generation would know better, but the "useful" gifts are probably pretty big no-no's for boys to get their girlfriends on birthdays/V-day/anniversaries. You know what I'm talking about. Gifts such as toolkits, roadside emergency kits, frying pans, vaccuum cleaners . . . Even though the guy may be well-intentioned (now you can fix things!, but I care about your safety!, you like to cook!, you said you needed one!), girls want romantic gifts or fun gifts. Nothing useful, please! (Unless they want to buy us things like . . . computers or pay for our tuition. I'd take that.)

I forgot bout the frying pan. Have you ever really gotten a roadside emergency kit or vaccuum cleaner?!?

Hmm I don't know what Gerber daisies are. I have favorites, bu I'd be happy to get any kind of flowers, especially considering who I'm going out with =P. Something that Alex would consider impractical and/or useless would be awesome!

The two of us should write a girlfriend manual and get it published! =P

Gerber dasies are the big huge dasies that come in bright colors.

No, I've not gotten a roadside emergency kit or a vaccuum cleaner...but it's the type of thing you might see clueless boy do in a movie or book.

We should definitely write a girlfriend manual. Your writing is super humorous...I totally think we could do it. I read your entry to Kameron and he goes, "Does Denise write for a magazine?"
