Never nicer than she

Heard some really crappy news yesterday, my old LJ friend dandelionchain has died. I don't know the details yet, but she'd been fighting cancer for several years. It's the greatest unfairness, I'm not a spiritual person, however in Lisa it was easy to see a good spirit. When she wrote about her love for nature she had a special way communicating how much it filled up her heart, and I could say the very same for how she talked about the joy of time spent with her young niece.
Whenever she was able to write about her illness she never seemed angry about it, instead she seemed to address it with her universal grace as if it were an unwelcome guest in her life and certainly no reason to dull her fulsome appreciation of the world. I think we'd all do well to follow her lead on that, whatever the challenge we face.
As I say I'm not a spiritual person, and I hope I'm wrong on that, I hope Lisa up there where she belongs, among the daisies and the butterflies, rolling around in the sunshine, she'd deserve no less.

No better clue to her than her livejournal title, "Weeds are just plants nobody wants." Lisa never forgot to love them.
