The Castle Doctrine and CCW

I work in the prosecution side of law enforcement. Most of the cops and agents I know favor this Doctrine because, " I would rather deal with a dead or wounded perp than a grieving wife or husband." Personally, I prefer a big dog, a stungun or a pump shotgun.....but those are hard to conceal....

The Castle Doctrine: legislation enacted to shift the burden of proof from a homeowner defending his or her property to an intruder who has broken into or invaded a home not his or her own residence. This law also permits people with conceal carry permits, like liquor permit holders and persons picking up children in their cars from school, to legally carry and utilize the law in defense of their property or family. The vetting process for applicants and training required to pass the conceal carry weapon course is comprehensive, though many criminals also carry concealed weapons with no training or vetting process involved.

The article above records one local homeowner and his wife in a working class neighborhood who were assaulted in their home at 7am this morning by an intruder wielding a section of pipe. The alleged assailant ran off after being shot in the leg by the homeowner shot him in his leg. wi beat an alleged burglar with a pipe befor shooting him in the leg by the homeowner. Regardless of personal opinion on this controversial legislation, it has a profound effect, especially this morning at 7:15 am when the police arrived and the homeowner WAS NOT arrested.
