Got back from Anime Vegas today. Overall I had a lot of fun. The trip
orangeoctopus and I drop up on Friday so we can get settled in. The con started on Saturday so this gave everyone a chance to go site seeing. The stupid GPS told me to go the long way around to get to Vegas, which annoyed me. I did see a restaurant called Bad Ass BBQ so I will need to eat there sometime.
We get to the Four Queens hotel. It's right next to Fremont Street so it's at the end of the strip. Well it's better to say it's right next to a really bad neighborhood. Anyways, we get checked in put our stuff away and we hit the strip. We went to the Belagio (spelling) hotel, Mandalay Bay to see Shark Reef and Caesar's Palace. By the time we got back to the hotel it was late and it was crash time.
Saturday - First day of the convention. We arrived at the convention around 1 pm or so. Walked around the dealers room a bit. Saw the Maid Cafe, walked around a lot. Talked to a few friends and then finally it was panel time. We were all ready to go for our Kpop panel but Johnny von Bosh was late so his panel started 15 minutes late. That meant that ours got pushed back and we lost 15 minutes. It sucked but it's no biggy, he's one of the VIP's so it's all cool. During the Kpop panel we found out that a three of the videos refused to play which really pissed me off. We had a short break before our Jpop panel. What surprised us was more people showed up for the Kpop panel then the Jpop panel.
Sunday - My first panel was a 8am! It was the getting in shape for cosplay panel. I actually had people there. Surprised the bejeebez out of me considering the time. Went back to the hotel after that was over and started to watch some anime for my Lost Treasures panel which was later in the day. I needed to refresh my memory. Of course I had to watch some of the anime with my eyes shut. 6pm finally came around so we started the Lost Treasures panel. We had a pretty good turn out and the people seemed to really enjoy it. I was surprised to see how many people actually new about Dragon Half. Overall that was a score panel, at least that's what I think.
We got another 60 min break and found out the lap top we brought didn't have power point so our Bish, why girls should watch sentai panel was dead. Luckily, the only people there were waiting for the next panel or bored and just happened to walk by. We still did the panel but without the guy parts. I just filled out more time by explaining the shows in greater detail. This one guy had fun with it so I think in a weird way everyone was entertained.
Right after the sentai panel was our hotly anticipated we tell you why your anime sucks panel. The room was packed, maybe 30-50 people total. People had to stand in the back so it was awesome. For the next 60 minutes we shot down everyones favorite anime. This one guy got pissed that we talked some smack about Utena which was funny because I think he missed the part about this being a joke type panel. So that reminded us to tell the audience that this is a fun, joke panel and not take it seriously. This was the most fun I ever had doing a panel. It was awesome.
After the final panel a bunch of us went out for late night ramen. It was tasty.
Sunday - wow I actually got up in time for the 8am jrock panel Security wouldn't let anyone in until 8pm so the panel started 15 minutes late. No biggy, we did the videos we absolutely wanted to do. The ones we missed, I wasn't too concerned with.
After the panel, we ate, gambled and left.
Overall AV was awesome fun. Hope to go again next year.
