I have free time, like not time I've had to force into my day so I can check e-mail, but actual I have nothing to do free time. Course that because despite no warm-ups I got up and did my work out early so I could have this time. But who cares, I feel great, and I am free.
Yesterday was amazing, well, some of it. I went to a lecture, a really interesting, well put together, intelligent lecture. And best of all it was on a topic the average person avoids. Homosexuality and the Bible. Beautiful, informational, inspiring even. Also sorta distressing. Yes, the guy said basically everything I have believed or that my Mom and I have talked about, and even a little more. He backed it up with seven years of research. The guy knows 12 languages including the one Jesus spoke. Its amazing. And yet there are still people out there who insist on using the bible to persecute homosexuals. Which even if it did say anything about it, would be against God's word anyway. Its depressing, and depressing to think how many people out there beleive they are living in sin just for being who they are, because somebody is afraid of something different and to thick headed to admit it, tells them they are, because they took bits and pieces of the bible not meant to go together, added context that shouldn't be there, and then said see your bad.
Lesson # 1: Don't mess with the bible if you aren't equiped with the knowledge to do so.
Lesson # 2: Don't turn the bible into an idol, thats against God's commandment.
This is something I had never really thought about, but something a lot of people are doing.
And he said something that got me thinking, our emphasis should be on HEALTHY sexual relationships, and that those relationships should not detract from our love and devotion to God, or it becomes like an idol, or an idol, and then it is wrong.
