I had a dream - kind of a creepy one actually. I wonder what it means. It's not creepy in that Quentin Tarantino way, more in the Willy Wonka sort of way.
I was at home, and my sister was at the table. I went to call someone, and when I picked up the old corded wall phone it started ringing through the ear piece. So, I hit the little button on the phone to hang it up and when it sprang back up I heard the voice on the other end. It said, "Hello, Cadet's House". Definitely not the person I had intended to call (I forget who it was now), so I say, "Hello".
She asks who I am and why I've called her twice over the past couple of weeks and tells me she's a cadet at CGA. I inform her that this is the first time I've ever spoken to her that I know of and that I never dialed her number - we were just connected. I tell her of my short-lived Academy experience, and when she hears my name she remembers me.
I am then informed that I was the last person of my class to leave before the "tests" (whatever that is) and that she didn't understand why I did. I am then painted a picture of a much more relaxed school than what CGA really is (we're talking as relaxed as a civilian college but with uniforms) to help me understand what I missed. I believed her at the time (it was a dream after all).
So, I say, "I left because I knew that pursuing an engineering degree from the Coast Guard Academy wasn't going to make me happy." There may have been a couple of other things, but that quote or something close to it was said. All the time, I was thinking of the things that were being left out, like the fact that I really don't plan on being an engineer after college although I am getting a degree in engineering, etc.
After I told her this, my sister piped in with a question that I should ask. It was a snarky one, and I forget what it was. Then, it was time to wake up...
Peace.
