Just finished Broadchurch. Oh my heavens. So well-written. The characters are all really multi-dimensional, the acting is incredible, the soundtrack complements the action quite well, and I just got so sucked in. I haven't watched anything that bleak in ages, but for some reason I was okay. I like how honest they were about grief and human nature and faith and love, and I loved how real these people were-- there are a couple of characters I just flat-out didn't like, but the rest of the cast was made up of very real, mostly likable people, just like how reality is. These aren't gorgeous, quick-witted, lovely saints or absolutely evil villains; they feel like people you'd run into around town. You might not want to be best friends with everyone, but they're a community and you sense that. Ugh I'm just rambling, I know, but this show was brilliant. I can't recommend it highly enough. It's sad, yes, but there are also scenes that made me smile and there are beautiful, redemptive moments, as well.
