27. Ruler of the Realm-- Herbie Brennan Well, I thought this was the end of the series, but it turns out it isn't. Bummer. Not because it's a bad series, but because now I have to go find the next book. This one was fun, though.
28. Archenemy-- Frank Beddor I started this series back in 2008 when, back in China, we were all starved for reading material and started trading books amongst each other. I liked that little element of community-building very much. At any rate, this series is one I didn't expect to enjoy (I HATE Alice in Wonderland), but actually found quite intriguing. This was a good way to wrap it all up.
29. The Imperfect Paradise-- Linda Pastan This is an actual poetry book, unlike the Phil Rizzuto one. What's more, the poems are beautiful. Lots of biblical imagery in this one, as you might expect by the title.
30. One of Our Thursdays Is Missing-- Jasper Fforde Gah Jasper Fforde I love you. This one wasn't my favorite Thursday book, but it was still great. The narrator of this installment is actually not Thursday Next, but the character who plays her in the books written about her. Trust me, it makes sense in the context of the series. While I missed the real Thursday, I did enjoy this new take on things.
31. Safe Among The Germans-- Ruth Gay I've read a lot of books about the run-up to and the process of the Holocaust, but hardly anything about what happened afterwards from the Jewish perspective. This book was a good way to somewhat rectify that knowledge gap.
32. Kreuzweise Deutsch: Politisch Unkorrektes aus Ost und West-- Michael Jürgs & Angela Elis This book is a series of editorials previously published in Tagesspiegel, discussing different issues about reunification, East Germany, West Germany, politics, culture, prejudice, and ridiculous preconceptions. I didn't read it as closely as maybe I could've, but I got some new vocab words and new info out of it.

Went and saw Brave yesterday. Visuals are gorgeous, storyline is incredibly underwhelming. The main character is a selfish, spoiled brat who puts the whole conflict in motion by her own egocentric actions and then doesn't have the spine to own up to what she's done. I'm not a fan of that kind of storyline. Plus the father does a terrible job of parenting his children.

Novak is through to the semis, yay!

Oh PS Happy 4th of July!
