After 30+ years of no problems - leaving my cars unlocked, windows down sometimes (I actively encouraged theft of my old wagon XD), living in some seriously low-income areas...now that I'm in a quiet neighborhood in a quiet beach town, my car gets broken into TWICE IN THREE MONTHS.

They didn't steal anything except my change and a few packs of gum, since the replacement radio isn't worth anything, and there isn't anything else in the car due to the last break-in.
THEY BROKE INTO MY CAR...AGAIN...TO STEAL MY CHEWING GUM.
I haven't been driving it because it has developed an odd, loud click whenever I steer, so the fact that the battery is dead because they left the door open doesn't really bother me. I'm not even going to bother giving it a jump - at least this way, when they break in next time, at least they will have to do it in the dark without interior lights, and they won't be able to even think about driving it away. 'Sides, why do I need a working car? It's not like I have anywhere to GO.
