The good news: I got hired to produce pilot shows for Dick Gordon's new show at WUNC-Chapel Hill. If you know Dick Gordon, he used to host The Connection, produced in Boston. Then he moved down here. As soon as I found out, I plastered them with my resume, practically begging to be hired. One thing led to another, and now I find myself, um, producing shows for him. Public radio storytelling was exactly the direction I wanted to go next, so I'm still in shock at this windfall.
The bad news: Since this is an interim position, I still have to hold down my OTHER job. This means working at WUNC from 7am-1pm, then at Duke from 2pm-6pm. Free time? Very little. The ideal situation would be to get hired at WUNC permanently, of course, but first I gotta prove myself.
So in case I go incommunicado for the next three weeks, you'll know why. But I hope I won't, since I will still be in front of a computer all day!
