Ruki really enjoys it when he has good days. They are few and far between for him. One day had started out as a pretty horrible day for him. He managed to wake up late that morning, causing him to be late to the interview he had to attend. Because of this, he had high hopes he wouldn’t get hired. Once he arrived back at the apartment, he found his roommate in their own room, obviously getting some well needed action. Ruki grumbled to himself, grabbing a leash from a hook on the wall. He called to his dog, Koron, leashing the Chihuahua up and heading back out of the apartment.

“Could have at least told me what he was planning. I would have stayed out longer.” Ruki said to himself, reaching into his bag and pulling out his sunglasses. “Sometimes, I don’t know what goes through his head. What do you think Koron?” The dog looked back at Ruki and barked happily. Ruki smiled, walking into the park. He would come here when he needed to get away from it all, and that was normally every day. Ruki began to daydream, allowing Koron to lead him. This led him to trouble as he walked right into someone, knocking his sunglasses off his face. The person before Ruki turned to face him, a scowl snaking its way to the stranger’s face.

“… Sorry about that sir. I started to space out a little bit.” Ruki stared at the stranger, who proceeded to stay silent. Before Ruki could say anything more, he watched as the person stepped forward, landing right on Ruki’s sunglasses. This caused Ruki to frown, only to be picked up by the front of his shirt and brought to eye level with the stranger.

“Let me help you ‘space out’ huh?” The man grinned, sending a shock of terror through Ruki. Ruki wasn’t sure what to do, his body frozen in fear. He could hear Koron barking in an attempt to help him, but to no avail. The man just laughed, pushing the dog away from him with his foot.

“Let go of him.” Ruki turned his head to the side, watching another male come towards them. He didn’t look much older than Ruki, but he was taller. His hair was short, dyed blond and black, one part of it covering the right part of his face. Across his face was some piece of white cloth, covering his nose and tied behind his head. Ruki guessed the man had taken some sort of motor bike to the park, considering the helmet in his hand. The fact he was wearing a leather jacket, jeans and boots kind of helped too.

“Have to rely on friends for help, huh?” The man released Ruki, who proceeded to stumble a bit when his feet hit the ground. The man walked off, passing by the blond, knocking into him on the way by. Ruki watched the blond completely ignore the other man, making it to his side.

“You all right?” Ruki nodded, calling Koron to his side. The dog sniffed at the blond’s boot, then looked up at him, wagging his tail. Koron barked, gaining the blond’s attention. “That guy is always causing problems here. It’s not just you he happens to pick a fight with.” He bent down and pet Koron, earning a few wet kissed from the small dog.

“So you’ve helped more people than just me?” Ruki watched as Koron enjoyed the attention. He had never seen the dog so happy.

“No, just you. You seemed a little more… helpless than the others.” Ruki huffed as the blond laughed. “I’m joking. Name’s Akira. Or Reita if you prefer.” Reita stood up straight, earning some displeased barks from Koron.

“Koron, hush. I’m Takanori… or Ruki… friends call me both.” Ruki reached down and picked Koron up, who proceeded to bombard Ruki’s face with kisses. “Oh, thanks for helping me. Normally I don’t back down to people but… he was a pretty big guy…”

“Don’t worry about it. Consider me to be one of those people who likes helping others.” Ruki nodded at Reita’s words, putting Koron down and following the other as he began to walk off. At first, Reita didn’t say anything to Ruki, allowing the other to follow him around a bit. Ruki thought nothing of it until he walked straight into Reita’s back. “Seems I have a follower…”

“S-sorry, I just…” Ruki trailed off as Reita went and sat down on a nearby park bench. Koron tugged at the leash, apparently wanting to go see Reita again. This resulted in Ruki getting pulled to the park bench as well. Koron jumped onto Reita’s lap, forcing Ruki to sit down on the bench next to Reita. For the next few hours they both sat there, conversing with each other, Koron constantly moving between the two. Only the diming of light caught their attention-well, that and Ruki’s cellphone. “Hello?”

“Are you going to be here for dinner?” Ruki felt like he was listening to his mother, not another roommate of his.

“Yes, I’ll be there. Wait, one moment. Hey Reita, you want-“ Ruki paused when he saw Reita was nowhere in sight. But the sound of a motor bike starting told him Reita was already leaving. “Um… nevermind. Give me fifteen minutes and I’ll be there. Oh, and stop acting like my mother Kai.”

“Sorry. I just don’t want to make too much or too little. So I thought I’d ask.” Ruki knew how much of a motherly figure Kai was, but he just liked to poke fun at it time to time.

“It’s fine. On my way.” Ruki hung up the phone before he got a reply from Kai. “Let’s go Koron.” The dog barked, following Ruki out of the park.

Every day after that, Ruki returned to the park, sitting on the same bench. And every day, he left disappointed, as Reita never showed up again. Sometimes Kai would find him shut up in his room, not wanting to see or speak to anyone. It didn’t take long for this behavior to get on Kai’s nerves. And one day, Kai did something about it.

“Come on Ruki, we’re going out today. I’m sick and tired of you shutting yourself up. Besides, you’ve even kept me out, and we’re supposed to go out every Friday night because you promised me that when we started going out.” Kai grabbed hold of the sheets, yanking them off Ruki. The younger grumbled, covering his head with his pillow. It wasn’t long before Kai tore that away from him too. “I don’t understand what is wrong with you. What is it about this Reita fellow that keeps you going out to the same spot in the park every day, and then holing yourself up in your room when you don’t see him?” All Ruki did was shrug. “Why don’t you just let him go then?” Another shrug. “You’re not making this easy for me…” Kai grabbed hold of Ruki’s arm, pulling him straight off the bed and onto the floor. Ruki groaned in pain while someone outside the bedroom spoke.

“What are you two doing? Having rough morning sex?” Laughter erupted from behind the door. Getting to his feet, Ruki ran to the door, threw it open and chased after the two waiting outside.

“Aoi, get your ass back here! You too Uruha!” Kai snickered, hearing Ruki’s voice echo down the hallway. Kai made his way out of the bedroom, heading downstairs to the kitchen. He dodged a flying pillow, obviously thrown by one of the other three. When Aoi came running around the corner, he barely missed slamming straight in the other. “You’re next Aoi! Get back here!” Ruki ran right past Kai, chasing Aoi into his own room. Sparing a glance into the living room, Kai found Uruha pretending to be dead on the couch, pillow covering his body.

“You look like some child came and got you caught in a pillow fight… and you lost horribly.” Uruha looked up at Kai, a pout on his lips.

“Might as well call Ruki a child. He acts like one…” Uruha complained. It wasn’t long before Ruki caught Aoi, just in enough time to have Kai finish up breakfast. After eating, and cleaning up a bit, Kai managed to get Ruki to go shopping with him. They stopped at numerous stores, Ruki buying more for himself than Kai did. Coming up to a small swet shop, Kai forced Ruki to go in with him. Once inside, the smell of chocolate and sugar filled the air around them.

They both enjoyed looking at the wonderful desserts that lined the shelves. Kai was pulled out of his thoughts when he was dragged off to the side by Ruki. “Kai, doesn’t that look amazing?” Ruki pointed to a dog sculpted in dark chocolate. “Reminds me of Koron.”

“You like it? Took me a few hours to make. I happened to get inspired-“ The man behind the counter froxe midsentence when Ruki looked up at him. “Well, fancy meeting you here Taka…”
