Men of all ages make me smile... Part II

Today I was driving home from class late in the afternoon very tired and worn out from the day. I came up to a crosswalk and had to put on my breaks for the people passing. Not a big deal...I do it everyday. But today a man that passed really caught my attention. He was a young dad holding what looked to be a little one-year-old girl in his arms. He had the hand of another little girl, probably 4 and a little boy around the age of five. He looked so attentive and protective of them, and when I slowed down to stop and wave them over, he smiled. He looked like such a sweet little dad. I love to see men interacting with kids... especially their own. I don't know if it's because I'm a girl and will one day be a mother myself and am used to seeing that type of thing, but for some reason I really get taken aback when I see a father being the caregiver of his kids. I want my husband to be like that. I think you see a lot of times where the mom's take over in being the main caregiver to the children (sometimes it's by choice, sometimes by circumstance), but I don't want that. I want my to get to see my husband interact with them as much as I do. I want to share the responsibilities and joys of raising them. I want to be able to sit back and marvel over the love I see him giving our children. I know I am NOWHERE NEAR ready for marriage or kids, but seeing little families like I did today make me think about the future and get excited. So to make a long story short... It makes me smile really big when I see daddy's lovingly taking care of and playing with their kids. It's very attractive to see that side of a man's heart, I think.

The second man that caught my eye today was a little old man. He was probably in his 70's. He had on little dress pants, a dress shirt and suspenders (like the old men like to do :)). He and his wife were walking across the parking lot to their car from the 15th street diner. She was dressed up too. I really have no clue, but I like to think that they had just finished up eating at the diner, continuing their tradition of a weekly date to "keep the romance alive." :) The man looked kind of unsteady as he walked, but he still made sure to help lead the way for her. He was gently holding her arm and escorting her to the car. Not only did he help her to the car, but he also made sure to go to her side to open the door for her. I bet he's done this for her countless times in his life, but it seemed like it was still his honor to do such a thing. I want my husband to never grow tired of loving me in little ways like that. It really doesn't take much to make a girl happy...it's all in the sweet little things...at least for me :) Anyway, I applauded him, and his still very alive romantic nature. So those are the recipients of today's outstanding men awards! heheh :)

I gotta get some work done before The Bachelor comes on. I'm rooting for Sarah!...I'm ready for a good girl to finally win something!
