I got season 1 of She-Ra! Whoo-hoo! It was my most favourite show when I was little. I had the dolls and the horses and the crystal castle and I took them to school and played with my friends who also brought their She-Ra dolls and horses to school.
I've still got all the horses, though some of the accessories are missing.
Anyway I am having a fit of nostalgia watching the episodes. I'm up to episode three. Adora is still working for Hordak who stole her from Eternia as a baby and has been brain-washing her ever since with the help of Shadow-Weaver's spell-casting abilities. He-Man was sent to Etheria to find her and give her her magic sword which is just like his magic sword only it has a pretty jewel near the hilt. I don't think I ever watched these early episodes when they were on TV.
I was worried I would find it really, really lame after all these years, but I am getting a kick out of it. The animation is actually quite good quality for a daily cartoon from the 80's and although there is a great deal of Dr. Who-like repeated scene use (they always run through the exact same bit of forest, and that one button out of hundreds on the console will do whatever you want it to if you push it, the rest are for show.), and the soundtrack is rather dated, everything else still works. The story actually moves faster than most modern anime shows.
Oh, and Bow is a hottie. I never noticed that before. He's a little bit Carey Elwes Man in Black and a little bit Errol Flynn Robin Hood and a little bit Antonio Banderas Zorro. He's not quite as overly-muscle bound as He-Man. That guys physique is just ridiculous.
