on teaching and other stuff

So I'm really enjoying teaching this time around. I don't even mind teaching the kids. I might even like children again! Now that I've gotten into a routine with the early mornings on the weekend, i enjoy getting up at six and getting going. I find I like it much more than the days when I don't have to be to work until 5 pm. I lack the self-discipline to actually get going so I end up just lying around doing fuck-all. I think the lesson here is that I need routine. This time around I don't feel drained and lethargic every day. Teaching here has actually energized me which is weird because I thought I hated it. And I get more done on my off time if I work more. Hmmm. Curious. I'm gonna have to figure out how to get more of that.

In other news, I'm reading The Human Stain by Philip Roth. Has anyone else noticed that he writes the same book over and over and over? Even when he was a young man, he wrote about older men besieged for having relationships with younger women. I don't know why I keep reading his books...or should I say book. Am I crazy?

Bought some lotus tea this week. Whoa. Yum. Also, I've been eating, on average, two mangoes a day. And my house is really freezing. Never thought that Vietnam would be so fucking cold. But I bet it's not as cold as the places most of the people reading this are!! Mwwwaaahhaaaa! Hey, at least you can build a snowman.
