Found the perfect apartment. Holy chrikey, I've never lived anywhere so beautiful! It's four floors, remodeled, fully furnished, with a beautiful rooftop terrace. Comes with Wifi and a maid...who comes to tidy up everyday! It's tucked behind a bunch of other French colonial houses in the Old Quarter across the street from the best backpaker restaurant (HUGE breakfast for two dollars and amazing coffee) and just down the block from a great cafe with loads of english magazines including the economist. The house is dead quiet, a rare thing in Hanoi. and there's a courtyard that we share with the rest of the houses which is usually full of people cutting up food, washing clothes, etc. It's awesome and only $600 a month. Oh yes, there's a guest room (hint hint). I am dying to show this place to someone! PLEASE come visit me! Ryan's friend Joe may be coming to do a motorbike tour this spring and my sisters might be coming too (my mom offered to skip Christmas presents and get them tickets instead).
And teaching is going really well. The school is beautiful and the students are very eager to learn. Last week, I accidentally kept one of my classes a half an hour late and no one said anything! When I noticed my mistake, they all said "thank you teacher" and stayed even later to ask me questions. What?!
Last bit of news, I finally submitted my grad school app. Phew.
