I don't understand how it is I can get so much sleep...

...and yet still feel perpetually exhausted. Having coffee with my friend last night, I actually felt the kind of sleepiness you feel when you've been drinking, and I hadn't had a drop of alcohol. I'm wondering if it's a dietary issue. The doctor had said I was anemic a while back, but I don't see how that's possible now given the amount of bulgogi and leafy greens people feed me here.

This is bad news, if, as I plan to, I take up the three-times-a-week Korean course next month, which will surely kill me if it doesn't put me on the fast-track to reasonable competence in the language. You know there are certainly enough foreigners in Siheung and the immediate surrounding area to make for a profitable local class, but not enough of them care enough to bother learning Korean, so that leaves an intrepid few of us to make the trip all the way into Seoul to take our classes. blah blah blah

I freaking hate our English textbooks. The amount and quality of material they give to teach the kids is laughable. For example, this next chapter, aimed at year-end sixth-graders, includes a grand total of TWO vocabulary words ("congratulations" and "same," as though any Korean doesn't know those words already), and a similarly simplistic excuse for grammar. This in a chapter that is supposed to be spread out over four 40-minute classes. O.O This is absurd even for the most low-level students, and it's making it harder than ever for me to come up with activities that cover the material in place of the "games" they so unhelpfully suggest in the book. I just finished racking my brain for 28 hours of free-form winter camp activities, I am in no place creatively to come up with something to compensate for the lack of material in these books. Grar.

Anyway. Let me leave you with my current favorite K-pop video. I am about a year late with it, because I am never, ever up to date with anything, musically-speaking.
