So I just had my very first official interview with the Nothern Research Station in Minnesota. I want to work there so bad. I hope to god they pick me.

There were two men that interviewed me (one was the regional ecologist for the station) The interview was full of curve balls such as: Which keys do you use for tree identification (asked by the ecologist)?

My Answer: Michigan Trees because all of my research has been Michigan based.
Correct Answer: BUD SCALES and LEAF MARGINS?!?!?!??!

What the fuck, I assumed that was a given. Any good ecologist knows how to analyze bud scales and leaf margins as if it were their 6th sense. I guess I assumed too much.

Anyway, I'm wayyyyy qualified, but had a hell of a time explaining that to them. Seriously, I've been working on the same global warming projects for 2 years. I know how to set up plots and sample like mad.

It sounds like a really neat project: it's the SAME project but in different ecosystems.

GOOD LORD, I hope Alex's interview went better than mine.

On the up side-- I knew the guy interviewing me. He used to work with me, and he was my TREE IDENTIFICATION teaching assistant. It sounds like an awesome opportunity.
