(no subject)
So... I just wanted to update because I have a lot going on.
1) A group of us that work on Andrew Burton's research projects went down to the Gradient site to gather samples. It was hard work, especially because I was the smallest girl on the team. It rained on us the first day but we managed to work for a good 10 hours. We get to be in the woods and it's pretty wonderful there. We took root respiration rates, 70 cm soil core samples (those are a fucking bitch to get), biomass samples, leaf litter samples, and I collected some insects for fall camp. By the end of the day I had gotten dirt all over from practically rolling around in the forest all day. OH! And my work partner was from Ghana. It's very rewarding work.
2) I go to fall camp in 3 weeks for school. It's a semester long intensive field work requirement for my major. I'm kind of nervous because ground species aren't my forte.
3) The research crew got to stay at the University of Michigan Biological Center and it ruled so hard. Julie and I got our own (spider) cabbin, and they only serve organic foods at the cafeteria, AND AND AND they have a piping plover sanctuary!!!! HOLY FUCKING SHIT those little guys are soooo cute and I never thought I'd ever get to see one!
4) My dad is such a fuck. It looks like I'll have to go to school, take care of my great-grandmother, pay bills, pay tuition, and try to keep my scholarships at the same time this semester. Don't think, just do. And remember to breathe.
5) Troy. He's cute and nice. He's been very supportive. You don't know him as well as I do. I hope that someday you will because it's one of the most pleasant things in life.
uh.... I have to leave now. God, I feel rushed. I can't even write anything silly.
ps- We drank beer and played Eukre. It turns out that I am the worst player. EVER. I'll still be on your team though, if you'd like :)
