Just and FYI

Tulane lies about your room condition (rooms not on the first floor were damaged) and your stuff DOES go missing (I met people whose laptops and jewelry were stolen). All they do is tell you to fill out a form for the missing stuff.

So you REALLY should check with TU as to if it was damaged and if it was, go there as soon as you can to retrieve your stuff from their containers (black plastic bags if it was wet, poorly packed brown cardboard boxes if they weren't soking wet). The storage conditions don't seem ideal as it seems like some of the items in the storage are molding and then the mold spreads to other containers. I think this because my room which was on the 4th floor was not directly damaged (the room next to mine was) but all of my clothes smell like mold. There was no visible mold when I broke in just a lack of carpeting. However, my matress was still there (the same one because I marked it accidentally before I left).

Yeah so the moral of the story, don't believe Tulane that 95% of the rooms are fine (they AREN'T), don't believe them when they say that they had the boxes professionally packed (they didn't), don't believe them when they said that they were photographed and inventoried (they weren't) and don't believe them that your stuff is safe until you see it for yourself.
