The Cost of War

Sep 19, 2008 23:32

I don't post often.
However, I feel I must do what I can in light of how important this coming election is.

This post is on the costs of war, this unneeded war in Iraq.

If you plan to vote for a party or candidate who supports this war, who would continue it, please take a few mins to make sure you understand the costs involved.

If you are supporting a candidate who would end the unnecessary war in Iraq, perhaps this will inspire you to increased vigor in your efforts.

Cost the first- Money

Over $580,359,150,000 and counting

Here's what we could have done with Seattle's share of the cost

IRAQ
Per Month - $10.3 billion
Per Week - $2.4 billion
Per Day - $343 million
Per Hour - $14 million
Per Minute - $238,425
Per Second - $3,973

Cost the second- Freedom

Guantanamo- 775 detained, 420 eventually released with no charges, and a total of 60 to 80 expected to eventually be put on trial.

That is 10% of the people we locked up for years, that we actually feel we have enough evidence to take to trial.

'Patriot Act'

No-Fly list

Cost the third - Human Cost

US Military Deaths 4168 reported as of today

Iraqi Civilian deaths 87,589-95,597

Unlike our military deaths, those civilian deaths are Men, Woman and CHILDREN.
Much of their blood is on our hands.

Numbers can only go so far. This is what it LOOKS like, but be warned, it is NOT pretty.
