calling all clowns
This week I doubled my class load, because I've been subbing for a teacher who is on vacation. It's been fun, but hectic, and I keep feeling like I forgot something. Actually, last night I did forget to give some kids their homework back.
My students are so funny. One student asked me how many beers I had had that day. And his grammar was right on. Yesterday one of my younger students said, "Teacher, you are a clown". It's amazing how kids can see right through all the bullshit, and understand the true me.
Tonight I have my favorite class, mostly about 8 years old, and their specialty is colors, animals, and shapes. When they don't understand, they say "teacher, what!", and when they are frustrated, they say, "teacher, I speak Chinese?". And when they're happy, they just scream. They're cute as pie.
