I haven't written anything in a while and so I have much to update on. I feel like I have too much stuff to share and that it would take a long time to write about it. I have been neglecting myspace and livejournal for this reason. So instead I will share only the bullet points.
• I submitted my master's thesis in the beginning of september. I received a package in the mail this week (wed?) from the University of East Anglia. I didn't open it immediately. I think I was a little bit scared - although I wasn't completely sure it was my graded thesis I figured it probably was. I took it upstairs to my room fully intending to open it. And then I got distracted. So I opened it this afternoon and I got a 69. Now before you jump to any conclusions... this is actually good. In England, a 70 is excellent and the goal to shoot for. It is better than an A and far harder to achieve. For overall marks (grades), approx. 2 of 15 students get 70 or more (graduating with distinction) every year. Overall, I got a 66.6 (actually only 66.59, but the mark of the beast is cooler). Some universities in England give recognition for students achieving over 65 and over 70 (think cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude), unfortunately UEA is not one of them. So it would make no difference if I got a 50 or 69.99, I would still get the same qualification (degree). Oh well... It doesn't really matter that much, because I have entered the working world.
[Editorial Note: That last section was longer than I intended and if you think this means I have set a precedent for length of the following bullet points you are wrong]
• I have job working for the Long Beach City Council. I am a Neighborhood Liaison, which basically means I liaise with residents of the 5th Council District. It is a full time big boy job and I enjoy it a good deal of the time and loathe it at other times... the joys of a new job, a steep learning curve and an office trying to determine protocols, employee responsibilities, and how to function in general! (oh and this fucking no vacation thing - i.e. only 10 days of vacation - really sucks) Somehow I have not let my job impinge on my social life, as I still go out 5 - 6 nights a week - one of the reasons I have not been on LJ and MySpace.
• The other major reason I haven't been online is that I have a new large TV hooked up to my computer in my room. This makes it far more enjoyable to watch downloaded movies/TV shows in my room, hence, less likely that I will do other things with my downtime.
• I am currently dating my now former ex-girlfriend, Devon. If you aren't aware we last dated over three years ago and were together for a year and some months back then. The times are good, but unfortunately she is leaving for New Zealand in February. Although I do not have an intention of maintaining a relationship while she is over there, it remains to be seen what happens thereafter. To my chagrin, because this is basically a pre-existing relationship, it was easy to fall back into a few of my old bad habits.
"That is all."
