Little Things

Since I have not posted in a blog in over a month, naturally this one will be unjustifiably brief, devoting less than a sentence to most events. I'm going on another hiking trip with the Fell club this weekend, we are going to the lakes district, which is apparently a beautiful area, sadly it will likely be cold and wet.

Tomorrow, the students in my U.S. Foreign Policy: Interventions class will be meeting with a foreign policy-related official of undisclosed identity, followed by a free lunch with said official. Their identity is being kept secret from us because of security reasons (we were also required to give our names in advance of attendance). This naturally is a very exciting thought, although our professor had indicated that this is not a person of extremely high-profile. We are not sure who to expect, but it's probably no Madeline Albright, Kofi Annan or Condoleezza Rice.

I have been very active socially in the last month: I hosted a Mexican Food night (and my hosting has finally reaped it's rewards); went to a Sunday champagne brunch; went to a wine and cheese party; got drunk while watching the state of the union; sang karaoke (giving a nice rendition of "The Boy in the Bubble"); went to a roller disco; saw two more of the best picture contenders, Munich and Good Night, and Good Luck, leaving only Capote the one I am most excited about; won the Pub Quiz finally and performed considerably better in general in the weeks we lost, coming in 2nd twice; spent "an Evening with Shel Silverstein" (yes... he's dead... it was a series of short plays by him), as a result, decided I want to audition for a play in the coming months; watched the Superbowl, sans American commercials; gave my hair a reddish tint; and rewatched every episode of Arrested Development, oh how I love that show so.

Next week includes a poker night hosted by me; a pizza making night; going to see Capote; probably Karaokeing again; having no classes (12 day vacation!); a possible spontaneous trip to somewhere in England; and writing a book review.

Matt Julian is coming out to visit me for ~10 days in april. YAY!!!! He is arriving on the day I will be taking the U.S. Foreign Services Officer written exam in London, so that I can be a state department stooge/bring it down from the inside. This is almost perfect timing; his plane is arriving at 9:30 AM and the test is over at 2:15 PM.

Random Quote of the Day: "You gave me my dead sister's body for my birthday?"
