the graduation celebrations start tonight. it's going to be insane. norway has a tradition where all the grads wear red overalls and drink for 20 days straight. before finals no less. most people also pool their money with a bunch of friends and buy a bus which they spend the year renovating and then drive around in for those 20 days. it's been a tradition since forever, and i don't think any other country does anything even remotely similar. i don't really understand it. our bus isn't even ready yet, so we won't have anything to ride in until monday. no way that's stopping us though.
also, it looks like i got into UBC after all. apparently there was some sort of clerical error when they translated my grades from norwegian to canadian. i guess that's what you get for applying to such a big institution from overseas. anyway, i'll be moving in the beginning of august which is only 3 months away. i mean, i've been living in europe for almost 7 years and now suddenly it's like, BAM! 3 months. that's nothing. charlotte and benedicte are coming to visit me in the fall which seems even more surreal than the actual moving part. i never thought i'd be incorporating part of my norwegian life into my canadian one. the plan was to just cut and run, but i'm realizing more and more that i don't want to do that anymore. i want to keep my ties to this place.
